How to cleanup my backup/recovery list?
Here's what I do and what the problem is:
1. What I do: I keep three backups on an external hard drive, and when I need to make a new backup I delete the oldest one manually, so I will have room for the new one.
2. The problem is that I now have a very long Backup/Recovery list, and only three of those are backups that still exist. When I try to delete the obsolete entries, Acronis takes hours to delete the entry and while this is in progress Acronis is totally frozen. I can't even stop that deletion process or close the program.
My questions:
1. Is there another way I can clean of this list by eliminating the trash?
2. What the hell is Acronis doing, when I ask it to delete an entry that no longer has an associated .tib file?
3. Does Acronis keep a list, somewhere on my main hard drive, of files that were in the old (long ago deleted) .tib files?
This has frustrated me for several years. And when I go to do a new backup, Acronis always shows the BOTTOM of my very long list first. It's a LONG scroll to the top.

Thanks, Grover. I am using version "2014 Premium" build 6614. My operating system is Win7-Pro 64-bit. A screen shot of near the bottom of my list is attached.

You can use GH19 to remove the tasks from your main menu. TIB BACKUPS WILL REMAINI AND ARE NOT DELETED.
If you want to both delete the task and the backup files created by that task, then you can select that task and use its delete option and choose the delete backup option.

------------------------------------------------
If you wish to keep 3 backups (I am assuming Full only), then you could use GH11 as an example and set it to keep 3 versions but when set to 3, it creates the replacement first before it deletes the oldest so a setting of keep 3 really means you need space for 4 full backups.
Depending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain.
Editing an existing task is not recommended. Rarely does an edited task perform to user expectations. It is usually better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder. Old task can be stopped or deleted from the task listings.

Thanks, Grover. "Remove from List" is what I needed.
I had never found that function in the menu because it is hidden in the "More" drop-down item, and the visible "Delete" item seemed to be what I needed.
I hope Acronis will make that item part of the visible part of the menu -- it's a short menu anyway. And concerning the "Delete" item the title of that item should indicate delete "what."
