Error executing pre/post Commands
After upgrade to latest 10.0.11105 version Acronis B&R 10 fails to execute pre/post commands that where working in older version.
When testing command i get the error
Failed to execute the user command.
Code : 1 025 (0x401)
Module: C:\...\BackupAndRecovery\mms.exe
Message:
Code: 65 520 (0xFFF0)
Message: incorrect argument (own translation - i get the error localized)
The backup process is suppose to run a simple BAT command with no extra arguments. The bat script runs with no problem when run outside the backup program. (It was used before AB&R 10 in Cobian Backup)
Was tested with different credentials.
All working under Windows 2008 Enterprise x64 in AD environment.
The backup process works fine without the pre/post commands.

As advised in chat I would create a case via a web form but after I hit the submit button nothing much happen.

Has this issue been resolved, im getting the exact same error?
- Log in to post comments

Yes, with the latest build (#11345) at least this seams to work as it should.

Im using Build 10.0.11345 and still receiving the same error

Are you using ActiveDirectory?
- Log in to post comments

In what context, this server is not a domain controller, its primary service is a mail server
- Log in to post comments

So basically you have an domain environment. Was acronis installed with domain credentials?
- Log in to post comments

Yes thats exactly right and i am using administrator credentials
- Log in to post comments

Did you assign required rights (log on as service) to acronis users (note that if you did a update from earlier versions then there could be a new acronis user) and administrator that you are using?

I firstly updated it from build 11333, unable to resolve the issue and did a manual uninstallation of Acronis and installed with the new build 11345. Ive changed all acronis services to be run by the same account im using with acronis. Still no luck

But does the user and acronis users have log on as service rights assigned?
- Log in to post comments

It didnt at first no, ive changed it though and still doing the same thing. Any other ideas? I have just done an uninstallation on another server of acronis 10 and reinstalled, now its giving me the same error so now i have two servers with the same error :(

Firstly i compared the service rights from all acronis services from another server that has been running successful backups and modified it so it was identical. I would of thought this was the fix but it was when i changed the authentication of the Acronis Task to another administrator user with similar rights was when it worked atleast without PRE/POST. Before it wouldnt even let me run a task.

I have the same ISSUE, but with a different command line. I need to execute a dismount of my backup SATA drive which I use as a hot swap backup disk. I use "HOTSWAP!" command lines to execute the dismount/removal. It works fine from command line or scheduled with Windows Scheduler but WILL NOT work with the Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Pre/Post command.
The server is a DC and the account has the Domain Controller Local Security Policy of Log on as a service.

I see this an issue that has been there for some time know, however, it seems nothing has been done to solve it, I have opened a case (00499421) for the same error and I really hope Acronis take immediate action to solve this now recurrent problem.
Regards.

Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for opening the thread and for all your comments! Let me help you with the issue met and guide it till its complete resolution.
Dear Jesus Ivan Rodriguez, thank you for specifying the case number, I have checked its state and can see that it was escalated to the T2 support. I have sent the speed up request and will keep you updated regarding its state.
Great thanks to Marcin for his kind assistance. Since you have set everything as mentioned, we will need to take a closer look at the issue. Unfortunately batch files is an individual tool, so we'll need to review each case separately.
Could you please kindly provide us with the following information:
- Please kindly gather the Acronis Report from the machine in question
- Please attach the batch file you are using
- Screenshot of the error will be most welcomed.
Please kindly contact us with the information gathered, it will help us to identify the issue and provide you with the solution for your particular case.
Should you have any further questions or face difficulties with gathering the diagnostic information - just post a comment here, we will definitely help you.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Finally corrected the problems on my 3 servers with the exact issue posted by Marcin in the first post.
1) i downloaded "Acronis Scheduler Manager" which is a command line utility. download from here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1859
2) In the utility, type in:
- get list
- task zap
- get list
- exit
This will show you all tasks, remove all tasks, then ensure that they have been removed.
3) Remove your schedule and recreate it, then run the schedule with pre/post. If it does not work, dont get to worried, run through the process again but at the end, uninstall Acronis and reinstall. On one of my servers, this worked straight away, on the other 2, i did a reinstallation and that worked perfectly.
Good luck

I'm going to dig this old thread back up...because the problem still exists.
I'm having this problem on numerous Windows 2003 R2 SP2 machines, some of which are domain controllers. All are domain members. This problem existed in builds 11639, and in the latest build 12457. It doesn't make any difference what command is selected to run. I can even type pure junk into the command box and still get the same error as the OP.
I understand from the last post from Shane that there appears to be a solution, at least in his case. But, uninstalling the software and restarting production machines to possibly fix this is not my idea of an acceptable solution.
So in short, Acronis, Inc.:
- What causes this error?
- Can anyone at Acronis recreate this error?
- When can we expect a real solution to the problem? My idea of a real solution is a new build where the functionality we purchased works and this error no longer occurs, or an "Acronis, Inc. tested and approved" workaround (or solution) is provided.
I have attached some screen shots. I can email an Acronis Report.

Heath i went through a huge amount of hours with Acronis on this as the error returned for me after a couple of days, by the end of it, they admitted that they did not have a solution for it and their programmers now had a test case on which they were trying to determine a fix for. That was approximately 2months ago and im unclear what they have done since then, i doubt it has changed. I got to frustrated with their support therefore have changed over to a new product which i'm very happy with.

Which product?

Hello back!!!
After some hours spend with acronnis support and few months of contacts this problem was not solved to the end, and is probably still there. At the end i did not get any errors but, some of the commands did not get executed.
I have finally rewritten the batch scripts to PowerShell and it seems to work. For Acronis support that was enough to know it works. So a real cause and was not found and the problem probably is still there.

Good Evening,
I have just been having the same problem, when I click Test I get an error message saying the parameter is incorrect. Unfortunately not very useful. However, after extensive analysis using Process Monitor from Microsoft it turns out the problem for me was because I was connected remotely via Remote Desktop. If you connect to the console via the console by using, mstsc /v ServerIP /admin I was then able to test my pre backup command successfully.
Hopefully this will help somebody
Regards
Neil
