Installing Disk Image from 2010 Version

Thread needs solution

This could be a Windows 7 problem. But I am asking here to see if anyone else has seen this problem. I installed Windows 7 in 2010 with all of the correct drivers and Window updates current at that time. I made a disk image of this drive so if I had to return back to it, it would save me some time. Now I want to return back to it. The problem is that windows update will not start, so as to update to the current status of updates. Has anyone else seen this problem ? I have tried to make sure all the correct services are set correctly and are running. It gives me an error that says I have to restart my computer each time I try to run Windows update. Still no luck.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Did you restore the image on a new disk? WOuld that new disk be an advanced format disk by any chance?

Make certain that the time and date set in Windows and in your bios are correct and set to your time zone. Often a restore will reset the dates to an earlier time and if those do not match current time then Windows update will not function correctly.

There is also a Fix It tool from Microsoft that may help.

No, the disk is the same one that has several partitions on it. I am using the current version of True Image 2015.

Date and time are correct. Microsoft Fix It tool not helping. Could cause some time but will try another disk image from another date.
Thanks for your help.

Simulate a restore via the user created TI Recovery CD.

Choose the windows C drive for restore and clicked next.
See if an option offered in the lower left of the disk destination screen is
"Recover Disk Signature",'

If opiton is listed, consider continuing the restore of this partition if you checkmark this option to be included in the restore

If no option listed or to cancel
then click cancel and stop the process.
