Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Server SBS Ed. Backup to multiple USB hard disks on every workday another disk

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I want to know if it is possible to backup (full backup if needed) to different USB hard disks. This in one programmed action. So that the client can connect a hard disk whatever he wants.

Normaly Disk monday for monday , Disk thuesday for thuesday,........
But when he is not at home (holliday) or forgotten to change to the correct day there should be a backup on the disk attached.

Is this possible ? I have checked the manual but i can not find this .....

Is for use on a old SBS 2003 R2 server.

Thanks

Best regards

Didier

I have what I thought was a simple problem, subsequent to a terminal failure. My single computer died suddenly. However, I have diligently backed up important data to an Acronis partition on a USB portable drive. Never having needed to recover, I have nevertheless found before that I can open the Acronis files just like ordinary Folder content.

After the failure, I have managed to get an older machine going. Then I thought I will install Acronis True Image and recover some of my files.

Unfortunately, I find that Acronis will not fully reconize the tib files created on the main machine. So I extended this installation by also installing the Plus Pack. Makes no difference.

Am I now stuffed; or is there some point I am missing.

Is it the same Acronis version you have installed ? maybe the version you have on the crashed computer was newer by updates ? And now you have installed the one that was Original from a CD or so.
Maybe that is the reason why you cannot view the backup content of the .Tib file.
When clicking on a .tib file you will see the complete backup and must be possible to copy - paste the files you want.
What you also can try is to dowload a evaluation version (free trial) from the site : http://www.acronis.com/en-eu/ so you can try to recover your files with this version.

Just suggestions not sure that it will help.

Hi Didier,
Thanks for your input. It is much appreciated. It certainly is the very same software I installed. What you say about an update is possible. I am unsure. What you say at least confirms my expectations: which were and are that I can recover files by simply picking them from a list. I might also give the suggestion of a new trial a go.

cheers; Peter

Hello Peter,

When Acronis True Image is installed on a PC you can attach for example a external hard disk where the .TIB files are on . When opening the folder on the external hard disk folder with the .Tib files they will have a Aconis icon.
When double clicking on a backup file normaly it will show you a drive letter of the backupped disk (if you have backupped full) and then you can double click on it to find the file you need. A right mouse click wil give you the option to Copy and you can paste it on another drive.

Maybe you can install the trial version so you will have the latest software where you can give it a try to open the backup file.

Hope this will help you further.

Best regards

Didier

Hi Didier,

Thank you for your posting! To your original question: consider using the USB-disks in the so called Removable mode, I think it will suit your scenario. For additional information please also refer to the following part of the docu.

Thank you,
