Missing files in Documents & Settings
I back up daily with True Image 2012 and have never had a problem restoring an image or a specific file...until today. I needed to restore a file under my name\local settings in Documents & Settings but "local settings" just wasn't there...not in any of my backups. Anybody know why? Windows XP is the OS.

I have nothing specifically excluded from my backups. And on the few occasions when I've had to restore an entire image, everything came back perfectly.

Curious, What kind of file is it? What is its extension.

Actually I misspoke. It's not just a file it's an entire directory and all the sub directories. In other words, I go to c:\Documents and Settings\Marty Pekar\ and there are supposed to be 40+ sub directories, including c:\Documents and Settings\Marty Pekar\Local Settings. Well Local Settings, and obviously everything that should be in it, including Application Data and the data I needed to replace from backup, is not there in any of the backups. Yes, it's on my computer.

Marty,
I don't have your version or your OS, but from memory, would you try this.
With TrueImage closed, browse Windows Explorer to the backup file you are discussing.
Double click on tib file name and if you have TrueImage installed, a resulting Windows window should open inside your backup.
Inside the new window, keep clicking the path to your files.
Try clicking various paths to see if you can find the path being used to your files.
And I may be all wrong for your particular version and os.

This seems to work! I no longer need to restore the problematical files since I upgraded the software when I couldn't do the restore, so I'm not sure if what I'm looking at is compressed, or if the folder/files can simply be copied over, but this is solid information for the future and I thank you. Still don't know why the folder in question is missing within the Acronis software. Thanks again!
