How do I backup my computer before I install Windows 10?

Thread needs solution

I am working on getting Windows 10 on my laptop, I have Acronis Drive Image 2014 registered copy.

How do I backup and image my computer before I install Windows 10?

Please contact me.

Hi Rick,
Just did this last night myself.

I started by running windows update. Restarted once.
Burned a W10 Pro x64 .iso to DVD
Booted my machine using Acronis Boot CD
Performed Full Disk Image Back Up
I back up to a NAS
Restarted
Put the Win10 DVD in my drive and perform an in-place upgrade W8.1 > 10
30 min later I had 10 (older HP) so this was slow
New machine should only take 15 min

Notes:
You do not need to enter a product key (which you are prompted for) press skip
I ran automatic updates after install and upon reboot windows was activated

I also confirmed a clean install was possible by starting the machine from the W10 DVD... like Win8 you are given the option to upgrade or delete and start over.

This was a test machine, so I wasn't really concerned with the outcome. One thing most people don't know. After a upgrade install is performed, you have 30 days to go back to your previous OS if you wish. After 30 days, this option disappears from Windows 10 Settings. End result, all working perfectly!

I know that you can use a bootable disc, or USB drive of Acronis 2014 to make backups in Windows 10. Have you tried using Acronis 2014 from inside Windows 10? Do any of the Acronis features work?

I've been using Acronis backup software forever. Each upgrade is worse than their previous product. If they won't update Acronis 2014, I will no longer do business with Acronis.
