Cannot update or install on Windows 10

Thread needs solution

I just updated from Windows 7 to 10 and ATI showed an available update but it couldn't download it (something about missing internet connection or a firewall), so I thought I'd try to reinstall but now I am stuck without any installation because the web installer cannot download the required data, either. It briefly shows 'Connecting...' and then fails with 'Failed to read file'.

I'm having the same problem with Windows 7 Pro. The auto-update download didn't work (same message as Stefan), so I downloaded the file from the support site. It uninstalled my current version, and then refused to install the update - 'Failed to read file'.
Not very good, is it?
Don't people test this stuff before releasing it?

Same here - just posted screenshots from Windows 8.1 - something is broken in the update logic in build 6613.

Cheers, Rob.

I have also this connection error but on win 8.1. When I start my PC it immediately shows Acronis TI 2015 Update 2 is available window. When I click on Download button then it shows the download progress bar. Then suddenly it shows an error dialog with “Error while downloading. Possible causes: no Internet connection or antivirus software blocks the file downloading”. Of course I have Internet connection. I also temporary disabled the Norton Security with Backup. It did not help.

But this update is weird: The update dialog shows that 6613 build update is available even I already installed the build 6613 update on July 21, 2015.
Thanks,
Louis

At the risk of being a 'me too'....well...umm...me too. Exactly the same as the above.

Same siutuation here on Win7: Acronis True Image refuses to update to "Update 2 - Build 6613". I loaded WireShark and it looks like the update-file is simply not there (see attachment):

Reading all, i think Acronis are a mess, i have pay for it, but now i use full system backup in Win10 instead.
Dont like to mess up my perfectly smooth resetted clean Win 10, with this.
Im able to Reset, and make clean install, because i purchased Win10 genuine activation.
I like the bootdvd before, but now 2015 i read thats a mess too.

Seems to be fixed. The installer can now download the latest version and the already installed version doesn't ask to be updated anymore.

I have not been so lucky. During my Windows 10 Upgrade, there was a failure, and Microsoft insisted I do a clean re-install of the OS. So now trying to re-install a fresh copy of Build 6613, I am getting the error
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information.

Any thoughts?

Stanley! Unlucky, this Microsoft.VC80.CRT thing is the third item in the List of known issues...

From your post it looks like I'd better not to upgrade to win 10 until the next update 3 of ATi 2015.
After "filpping that switch" my ATI 2015 stopped reporting that an update found! Amazing.

AFTER finding https://forum.acronis.com/forum/12842

I was able to run
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18471

Following that installation, Acronis 2015 Install completed. It verified my existing two backup schemes. However of note, neither have the presence of a "Backup Now" button to simply continue with the same two schemes. I also note that while in that process, Windows 10 failed twice requiring a reboot. Not enough time to spend on this right now, but will update the group later with my results. Other than Acronis, all of my Windows programs (Office 2013, Explorers including Chrome, IE11, Visio, Bitdefender, Malwarebytes, etc) are working fine. I give these other companies big kudos for making sure their products were ready for Windows 10.

2. Downloaded the latest version of Acronis True Image 2015 for PC and Mac [Latest Build: #6613 (Size: 282.14 MB2015-07-20 00:00:00)] using My Account on the Acronis web site: Filename: AcronisTrueImage2015_6613_en-US.exe

3. Displayed an error that was similar the following error message:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version="8.0.50727.6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64"'. Note: Similar errors were found numerous times in the AcronisTrueImage.msi.txt error file.

I have several clients that are are not able to move to Windows 10 Pro because of this problem.

Is there a hot fix?

Thanks!

When ACRONIS will fixe this error ?

Post #12 contains 2 links that are at present the only solutions available.

I have a windows 10 clean install: this done, after a billion problems with the updater to Windows 10 and I had to allow for the clean install.

At least three attempts to upgrade Acronis, from the notification that an update existed, failed. I downloaded the Link in post # 12 and that resolved the problem and Acronis uploaded normally. Thanks Stanley Dombrowski :o)

This thread is quite old going back to 2015, but I'll try posting here first before opening a new thread ... Our office is using Acronis 2020 on 10 Windows 10 workstations. There have been no problems up to now, but when I opened Acronis on one of the workstations, it prompted me to download an update, but I got the message: "Error while downloading. Possible causes: No Internet connection or antivirus software blocks the download." 'No Internet connection' is not possible since there is an Internet connection. Antivirus software is unlikely. All workstations in the office are pretty much clones. The firewall is controlled by the domain controller. Other than Defender, no additional antivirus software is running on the computer. I just tried updating Acronis on another Windows 10 workstation and it worked fine.

The error message doesn't give much information other than listing these two possibilities. Obviously, there must be other reasons for the update being blocked. What else can I look at?
