Acronis TI 2015 Build 6613 and Windows 10 - My comments

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis TI for PC (Build 6613)on Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 64 bit.
It is working very well.
In an email that received from Acronis a few days ago, it appears that a new version of ATI is available.
This new version of ATI Unlimited is based on a yearly subscription - the first year being discounted somewhat. The way I read this email is that this is the intended version to be used with Windows 10.

My personalcomments are::
1. The email does not state that ATI for PC Build 6613 will not work with Windows 10.
2. The number of problem calls submitted to this forum with ATI Build 6613 and Windows 10 are substantial.
3. The nature and extent of these reported problems does not leave me confident that ATI Build 6613 is a stable product for use with Windows 10.
4. With many of the calls - I have not seen any suggested fixes.
5. The cost to me, of the new ATI 2015 Unlimited Subscription package, is unacceptably high.
6. Are Acronis intending to release a new Desktop Version of ATI for use with a PC that will work with Windows 10.
7. I have been a happy user of Acronis for many years - but I am starting to wonder if I should continue with them or look elsewhere.

I will be extremely appreciative if someone from Acronis, who is competent to do so, will please provide some answers / comments to my above personal comments - so as to allow me to make an informed decision as to whether to continue with Acronis TI using Windows 10.

ATI 2015 build 6613 keeps loosing external backup drive when doing a validate. Requires me to constantly intervene to select retry to keep it going. Very irritating! Been a longtime customer. Don't know if it is drive compatibility or ATI issue. Anyone?

Since updating to version 6613 and Windows 10 I've been getting errors (event viewer) when any of the Acronis runs a backup:

Cryptographic Services failed while processing the OnIdentity() call in the System Writer Object.

Details:
AddLegacyDriverFiles: Unable to back up image of binary Microsoft Link-Layer Discovery Protocol.

System Error:
Access is denied.

Has other users received the same error?

I have had any of these issues with the 3 PCs I updated to Windows 10.

Update: I am running build 6613 which I installed in the last week or so ago. Some of the problems (mentioned in posts below) relate to other builds. Build 6613 is the current build on the Acronis download site.

I am also having major problems with ATI 2015 while running the general released version of Windows 10 since "upgrading" to build 6618. When I click on add existing backups, ATI2015 goes to lala land. I can not minimize the window, close the window. The only way to close the window is using "End Task" with the task manager.
I have uninstalled ATI2015 and reinstalled it but no change. With this problem it has made any previous backups useless.

I was have NO problems running Windows 10 (release level) with build 6525, being able to do file restores, mounting partition TIB files, the works.

Is there a way of getting build 6525 back???

Are you shure that build 6525 is fine on Windows 10 ?
Build 6618 is an horror !!!
Is it possible to downgrade ?

I had been running Windows 10 on my "Normal" PC since July 1, 2015 with Window build 10240 and then with the General Public release and Acronis was running great. As soon as I upgraded to 6618 Acronis has NOT worked.

Your question is exactly what my question is, I WANT BUILD 6525 BACK!! OR the next build that REALLY works with windows 10!

Pleas confirm the build number is 6618 - I have 6613, dated 20 July on Acronis download site.

Ian

You can get 6525 by signing into your Acronis account. Select ATI2015 and click on the plus sign in front of it and there should be an option to download previous versions.

Ian,
You are correct! My memory error when typing. I am running 6613.

I was able to set up a new partition backup but I can not add any backups that were done prior to the updating to the 6613 build.

Bob

Thank you for that valuable tip but unfortunately build 6525 is acting the same way that build 6613 does. When I attempt to add an existing backup to the program it goes in to la-la land and when I click on anything in the Acronis window it beeps and nothing happens. I am leaving it in that condition for a longer period of time to see if it will give some type of error message or file tree to get to the location of the backups finally appears.

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob

I can add and remove existing backups without this happening. So, it is not happening to everyone. Is the backup on a local HDD, if so is it USB? Is it located on network somewhere, for example on a NAS?

Ian

Hi,
It is a NAS (network) drive but I never get to a directory tree to even start to navigate to the location. As soon as I click on the button to look for existing backups I am done in. The window is frozen. I can not minimize it to see if anything is behind it to act on so that it will continue.

I did a normal uninstall of 6613 build before installing the 6525 build.

It is looking more and more that I am going to have to do a clean install of Windows 10 and a rebuild of the software that I run.

Bob

Hi Bob

I would put off doing a clean install of Windows 10. There were/are issues with NAS with ATI 2016 Beta, and there may be a similar issue with ATI 2015 6613. I decided to see if I could add a back from my Synology NAS and it worked without any issues.

For the moment I am out of ideas.
