Migrating to Windows 10 from Windows 7
Can Acronis True Image be used to migrate from Windows 7 to Windows 10? If so, where may I see how to do this?

Ian, first let me say thank you for responding. Sorry I was not more clear on my intentions. I now have a laptop running Windows 7 (no SP1) but would like a new laptop. I could get another Windows 7 machine but was thinking of going for the Windows 10 system.
Either way, I was wondering if there is a way using Acronis to move all my applications and email to the new computer without re installing all of my applications. Thanks again

Alexander,
TI cannot migrate just program files as most Windows programs require registry entries to be copied.
The only way I can think (and I'm not sure if Windows licencing would allow this) would be to image your complete current laptop with W7 on it, then upgrade to W10 as per the Microsoft roll out. Then image that install. Purchase your new laptop with W10 on it. Allow the activation process to run, then restore your existing W10 image to your new laptop. In theory licencing won't be affected as Microsoft will have the activation details of your new laptop on their server. Your main problem will probably be chipset and video drivers.
Using TI Universal Restore may help here, but you will need to access the new laptops driver repository or download the driver files from the laptop manufacturers website. TI UR requires the drivers to be unzipped so they are in inf or cab or sys format.

You update / migrate from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Via the upgrade path. Assuming you have got a valid Windows system installed
O/S upgrade will be like for like. Home for Home and Pro for Pro
Acronis is a backup application and absolute zero to do with upgrading an o/s
An application sits on top of the o/s.
If you have 2015 already in use on Win7 it will run perfect under Windows 10. Without any issue
I suggest you keep well away from the bug ridden 2016 until it is sorted out.
As we are all testing 2016 version i wonder who gave the decision to release it as completed live software.
No way is it ready for release and i pity those who have paid for a load of bug ridden code. A few more weeks / months should have been reserved for testing. Releasing software that does not "do what is says on the box", can only be damaging to cause

Thank you everyone for your comments. All of these comments are collectively what I wanted to know. I was just trying to see if there is a way of using Acronis to bypass the pain of transferring my wife's Outlook email to a new computer as well as all her real estate applications. Microsoft Office and associated files is no big deal. It seems that in the back of my mind I remembered an advertisement saying Acronis could package up all the files, including Outlook email, to transfer over to a new computer, even to a Windows 10 computer. But at my age who knows what I remember. I'll just do it the old way.

The email is less of a problem as you can import the OST/PST file to your current installation.

Thanks Colin, I am researching this now since you mentioned it and indeed it seems to be easier than when I last did this operation. Now I have to decide whether to get a Win 10 machine or a Win 7 machine to match all my other computers. But that is not for this forum. Thanks again.
