0x0000008E error after successful run of Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

I have restored the image of an old Windows XP Professional system onto a Dell OptiPlex 3010. (I can put a different hard disk into this machine and it boots successfully, so I know all the components are good). I downloaded XP drivers from the Dell website, and Universal Restore ran successfully.

When I try to boot I get a BSOD with this code:
0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x804EEF8C, 0xBA52B628, 0x00000000)

Any advise on diagnosing and fixing this error would be much appreciated!

Hello Ginny,

Thank you,

Hello Ekaterina,

Thank you for looking into this issue.

I found I was able to boot into Safe Mode, and I ran System Restore to my last restore point. After Windows System Restore, I ran Acronis Universal Backup again, and now the system boots!

The "Found New Hardware" wizard says it is missing drivers for three components; I've contacted Dell tech support to see if they'll help me identify the needed drivers.

Thanks again for your response.
