[MAJOR ISSUE/BUG] Unwanted shutdown
Running Acronis True Image 2016 Build 5586 on Windows 10.
One of my jobs is "SHUTDOWN", incremental, target is ASZ. It was supposed to do what I named it for, i.e. running a backup and then shut the computer off. For quite a while now, as scheduling on restart or shutdown doesn't work any longer, I have set it to "Do not schedule". Since then I start it manually and check the "Shut down the computer after completion" box while the job running and then go away.
I just ran this job (twice, just to be sure) during the day and found that it is shutting the computer off.
The according settings are:
Schedule: Do not schedule
Advanced / Computer shutdown: Box "Shut down the computer ..." is unchecked.
While job is running: Box "Shut down the computer ..." is unchecked.
After the job completes, a message box pops up and (while 20 seconds run down) asks for Cancel or OK to shut the computer down. If not canceled, the computer shuts off.
Why is this? Where is this option kept? Currently, this means that I have to sit in front of the computer and wait for a short or a long time (incremental backup!) to intercept the shutdown.
Until now, this seems to be the only one of my jobs that behaves like this.

Changing or editing a task has always been problematic in the TI app as the desired results are rarely achievable. It might be best to delete the task and recreate a new task for this purpose.

@ GroverH
Nope, neither nor. Pre/post commands empty, no entry in Windows task scheduler.

Right, task can be set up anew. Still this remains to be treated as a bug. This is not what I'd consider to be reliable handling. We should not get accustomed to deleting, resetting and recreating definitions because Acronis appears to be unable to keep their stuff together.

To complete this, even the related script states "false" for both before and after, and . So what the heck is triggering the shutdown?

My previous entry got somewhat distorted .. here's what I actually meant:
The related script holds several commands where a shutdown after completion could be initiated: "After" user command "silent reboot" and "shutdown after do". They're all set to "false" or "0".
So to recap: No pre-/post commands, no entry in Windows scheduler, no triggers in the script. Still something told TI to shut down after completion.
Does anyone have an idea as to whether, where and how one such trigger could be buried in the registry?

TrueImage has had rogue phanton tasks in the past. YOu might want to check this link.

YOu mgiht use this list command and compare the results with what you see in the scripts folder.
Frankly, I would just delete all the scripts and start over.

Hi #BS#,
Have you upgraded over top an existing older installed copy of Acronis True Image to Acronis True Image 2016 Build 5586?
I have suggest that you uninstall Acronis True Image 2016 Build 5586. Reboot the computer. Run a Registry Cleaner like Glary Utilities or CCleaner Free Version. Reboot the computer and reinstall Acronis True Image 2016 Build 5586.
I do have Acronis True Image shutting down, when completed, by checking the box in Advanced. Even with the Box checked in Advanced, it is unchecked after the Backup is started, but still shuts down.
Perhaps the Windows Registry is corrupt, causing your problem.

@ Grover
Thanks for the link. I will check out using Scheduler Manager later, as currently that machine is running in cloud uploads probably for the next two days. And of course: Deleting the scripts might help for the moment, but as I had checked the scripts already, that most probably will not resolve the problem. If something is lingering around in an undocumented place, it will surely come back. Funny enough, in contrast to all my other PCs which I transitioned from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, this very one is a "clean" nothing-old all-new upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. No remains from the past.

See previous post, all new and fresh. Also, I am using CCleaner already.

The log file can provide some help. Do be sure and look at the log of each backup.
You can also examine the content of the script file for any clues.
Look at the Windows Events log and it may offer clues as to what or who is instructing the computer to shut down.
It is possible that Windows task scheduler is involved.
