Can't see secure zone when backup by using bootcd build 7046 plus pack
hello,
I created a image of system in the secure zone created by bootcd v13.6053 plus pack.
As there's a new version of true iamge home (v13 7046), I remove the secure zone and startup recovery manager by v13.7046
I used the bootcd of 7046 plus pack to recreate the seucre zone (15GB) at the same place.
And the I activated the startup recovery manager.
Restart..
F11
Now, I want to create my first backup of system.
Chose the source, I chosed my OS partition (here I can see the secure zone)
Chose the dest, now I can see all my partitions beside the secure zone.
When I booted to my Win7HomePremium 64bits, Using Acrnois TrueImage Home v13 7046 Plus Pack, and did the same thing that I did with bootcd just now, I saw the secure zone when chose backup destination.
But I wouldn't create system backup image within windows seesion.
PLUS: by using bootcd v13.6053 plus pack, everything is OK, so problem of the newest version?
Anyone could help me, thx.

That's a good data point. Mine is a Dell Studio XPS 1645 with core i7 Q820. These two systems are pretty similar, so perhaps that will help.

Hello, i have also the same problem i use win xp pro.. with the recent update to the new 7046 version, i now cannot see the SZ when you go to browse for location using F11 or the bootable media cd. It was normally just under "My Computer" with the ASZ blue icon in Browse for Location window while trying to make a Disk Backup. I tryed on second pc with the same problem. This problem only occurs with F11 boot or the boot cd, if in normal windows everything shows up like normal. . It does see the disk but not the ASZ in Backup Location - Browse,... sadly. If I use my older version 6053 everything works perfecto! >Is there a fix for this terrible problem?
thanks Tony

Just Informations for the bughunters:
Same problem here after a fresh install of Vista Home Prem 64 and installing ATI 2010, where ASZ was created before with ATI 2009. Booting with F11 I see an error loading a file, somewhat like "libpcab" (.dll?), but the screen changes to fast to read it exactly and the Break-key does not work. Maybe there's a log-file somewhere? In Windows anything is fine.
Asus P5Q-E with a 2-Disk-Raid (SATA2), a 3rd disk with ASZ (SATA), all on Intelchipset.
Hope you can fix this soon! :)

Hello all,
Thank you for posting.
You are unable to create a backup to Acronis Secure Zone under Acronis Bootable Media. Using Acronis Bootable Media you can only restore the archives located in Acronis Secure Zone.
Acronis Secure Zone is available for backup and restore from within Windows.
Samuel,
It is unclear, are you able to get the access to the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager window?
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.

Hi Oleg
Oleg wrote:It is unclear, are you able to get the access to the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager window?
Uh, I see, my post was very undetermined, sorry. Yes, I can boot into Startup Recovery Manager, which works fine unless it cannot see the Secure Zone, but it sees all other drives and partitions.
samuel heller wrote:Booting with F11 I see an error loading a file, somewhat like "libpcab" (.dll?), but the screen changes to fast to read it exactly and the Break-key does not work. Maybe there's a log-file somewhere?
The error comes up after F11 on the black screen just before the menu to choose to boot Startup Recovery Manager or to boot into Windows. Again, anything works as it should here unless Startup Recovery Manager does not see the Secure Zone anymore after a fresh reinstall of Vista Home Prem 64 and installing ATI 2010, where ASZ was created under the "old" Windows with ATI 2009. I thought the error could be related so I mentioned it.
I tried to disable and re-enable the Startup Recovery Manager in Windows. This was successful applied but didn't change anything. I didn't recreate the Secure Zone because there are databackups I don't want to lose, allthough this would probably help. It did help about a year ago with my first and new ATI 2009 and a similar problem after fooling around with HDs and Partitions...
Hope I'm understandable now! Just ask for further information. :)

Hello Samuel,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, Acronis Secure Zone is inaccessible for backup under Acronis Bootable Media and under Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. This happened in build #7046 of the program. You are unable to overcome this.
The error message that appears at the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager startup is an internal Linux message, it doesn't influence the software functionality. Nevertheless, we are planning to get rid of it in the future releases.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.

really? could you please give us a reason why Acronis remove this very important funtion that we had with older version?

I kind of thought so, but one never knows...

Usually they say it's a feature, not a bug – but I strongly guess this time it's the other way round. :D
S**t happens, the question is how long it takes to clean up.
Cheers

Hello Tony,
I've just checked the status of the issue in our internal tracker, and unfortunately, there are no news about the time frame when it'll be fixed.
I'm really sorry for that delay.
Thank you.

Very, very frustrating... True Image 11 worked fine and I upgraded to 2010 only to waste time.
Reminds me of Word 2.0 which was 16-bit and worked better than Office 2007.
Where is the patch?
- Log in to post comments

Yes very frustrating.
Thats why I use mudcrab's Grub4DOS (http://www.themudcrab.com/acronis_grub4dos.php), so I can boot previous versions of TI and get the functionality I want.

Hi there!
I see, the bug isn't corrected yet. So could you tell me,
1. is there a previous (or next) build of ATIH 2010, that works with disks in AHCI mode AND can save images to ASZ when booted from a rescue disk or Acronis Loader (F11)?
2. Where could I buy it / get a trial version for testing?

I called the support 2 days ago for the same problem. They told me, i have to buy for support. It is a bug. Why i should pay for th bugfixing of Acronis? - And it is an old problem. When will the update come?

I see that True Image 2011 has come out. Given that it is not a free upgrade except in a few select cases, I am concerned. The bug in this thread is a significant missing feature. I and others have been expecting some sort of support or patch to make this feature functional in the version of the software (2010) that we purchased.
I would assume that the bug is fixed in True Image 2011. At this point, I am unwilling to purchase ANOTHER version of True Image, when the support for the version I already bought has been so lackluster. Now, I am not criticizing the employees commenting in this thread. Thank you for giving us a little feedback, and I know you aren't likely the ones who decide when to patch and when to simply move to a new version.
So, before I contact support directly, I would like to know if there is some plan for those of us who have need of this functionality to receive an updated version of 2010 or a complimentary version of 2011 (assuming it has the problem fixed). As a software engineer, I recognize that full releases can often be prioritized over patches, so I am not trying to be terribly critical, but I will say, flat out, that I will not pay money for a new version of True Image 2011 at this point in time, given that I have waited since April 24th for a patch to fix this problem and none has been forthcoming in the last 4 1/2 months.
Please do let us know. I really like the True Image product, but given that it is a paid product, I do expect a higher level of support than I do from all of the various free partitioning/imaging solutions that are out there.

just for the record, i am testing true image 2011 for a possible oem deployment, however the issue of not being able to backup directly to the secure zone is still not fixed. i dont think acronis is seriously working on a fix for this. it also seems that some of the team are not sure which products would suit an oem for mass deployment of standard images, and ghost might well win in the end. i agree with some of the comments in this thread that expect the fix for free as it is a direct functional failure, not a feature that has been removed.

Hello all,
Thank you very much for your valuable feedback. I would like to update this thread with some additional information.
Unfortunately I do not have any new information about the status of the issue in Acronis True Image 2010 Home, we are still working on it. However, most likely it is scheduled for the next update of our software.
In Acronis True Image 2011 Home, the Acronis Secure Zone is not available as a location for backups when you start Acronis True Image 2011 Home from bootable media. You can read more about on page 164 of our User Guide available here.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

Hello all,
Another small update.
We just released a new Knowledge Base article -
- Acronis Secure Zone is Not Available as a Backup Destination from Acronis Bootable Media
which explains the situation in more detail.
If you have additional questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

Thank you very much for deciding to reconsider support for that feature. It's definitely a good one that I haven't seen elsewhere, and one that I wanted to be able to use. I appreciate your support, even if I sounded cranky earlier.

Thanks Anton,
I'm glad to heard that it will return in the future release.

Hello Acronis,
I just experienced this problem of not being able to access the Secure Zone from boot media or recovery manager. I just purchased my TI home 2010 in July. I see that a number of people here have run across the problem earlier and have been waiting far too long for resolution.
With respect to those from Acronis who have replied the replies are very non-committal and we deserve a better response from Acronis on when this will be fixed.
I am currently working around the problem with a version of TI 11 bootable media which works fine, but I for one would never consider continuing to buy from Acronis unless this issue is resolved.
Please get the fix done tested and published.

Hello Douglas,
Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will certainly help you with your question.
I apologize that our responses are not very definitive but we are limited in terms of available information about program release dates. We never provide a concrete release date because they can change for multiple reasons. However, this will be fixed in Update 3 for Acronis True Image 2010 Home. You can always subscribe to our newsletter and receive a notification when the update gets released.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

Acronis support,
I am a bit confused by the wording of the KB:11203. It states that the capability has been restored to TI Home 2011 and also planned for the next planned release of Backup and Restore 10. Is it still planned to fix this in 2010?
Thanks in advance for a reply,
D
