Validation is incredibly slow?
I recently enabled validation for my backups. I just noticed that a differential which takes 30 minutes to create takes an hour to validate. Is that normal? It seems very strange that the validation takes twice as long as the backup.

Using Acronis 2016 Build 6571, it took 22hours and 15 minutes to do a complete backup and verification on a 3.6MHz PC Computer and a USB 2.0 external hard drive. Acronis used to just backup the used portion of the computer harddrive which is only about 145GB used with 930GB Free on a 1TB Hard drive. After all of that, I am not sure that I even got a usable backup. It did about rhe same thing on four different PC Computers. The program is unusable and tech help is unavailable. What Now?

Joe, please download a copy of the Log File Viewer app and use this to check your logs for the backup & validation task to see if there are any messages posted that might offer an explanation for why it took so long?
You say: "Acronis used to just backup the used portion of the computer harddrive which is only about 145GB used with 930GB Free on a 1TB Hard drive. "
Have you changed the backup settings at all, i.e. to do a sector by sector backup? If so, this would give a backup image size equal to the size of the 1TB drive less between 20 - 30% compression.

How big was the backup .tib size as well? If it did a full sector-by-sector backup, that would explain the long time and should be closer to 900Gb (give or take). Selecting sector by sector in your backup task will produce this result. If the drive has corrupted sectors, it may default to sector-by-sector anyway to make it possible to create the backup. You may want to run chkdsk /f /r on your source and destination drives - however, the logfile app may help provide some more information before going that route as the chkdsk is going to take some time on both drives.
