Explore Archive
I'm really confused. Am I supposed to be able to explore a *.tib archive just by double-clicking on it? If so, at least on my computer, I can't explore an archive unless I mount it first. I'm sure in previous versions of ATI I could just dbl-clk the archive and explore it - no need to mount first. I must be missing something.

Using Windows-10 64-Bit, 16Gb Memory
Backing up my C drive (250 GB Samsung SSD) to my F drive
I do a full back up of my C drive daily (one partition only).
Options are Do Not Schedule, and advanced - Validate upon creation.
After the archive is created on my F drive and I double-click the tib file nothing happens. No error message(s). I have archives created with ATI 2015 and 2 archives created with ATI 2016. Can't explore any of them with ATI 2016.

Fixed.
I uninstalled ATI 2016, rebooted, reinstalled ATI-2016. Problem fixed! Don't know why it's fixed but can now dbl-clk archive and explore it.

I have installed Acronis 2016 on 2 PCs and neither of them can open a tib file from Windows Explorer like I could with the 2015 version. Is there any other fix other than uninstalling and reinstalling.

Facing the same problem on Win10. Double-click on tib-files does not work. Even better - I can't open tib files created by ATI2015 with ATI2016.
It's as always with Acronis: Nothing really works with new versions. I really wonder, if they ever test their stuff before release...

At least in my case it was obvious than I shouldn't have done the installation without uninstalling ATI 2015. This is contrary to ATI instructions for the last few iterations. It's obvious that with any updates forthcoming from ATI I will uninstall first and then install fresh builds.

Yes, when upgrading from an older version (such as from 2015 to 2016), many of us have found that an uninstall works better.
It takes a little longer to do the uninstall and cleanup, but it seems to save time in the long run by having fewer problems.
I always create totally new tasks when upgrading from the older version to a newer version. I do not want or expect the old backup tasks to be continued.
Usually, an update of a newer build within the same version does not cause problems--usually.

I have also had issues with double click on *.tib files since updating to Win 10 Pro 64 and updated to ATI 2016 Cloud. I can however mount drives by right click which and one choice is 'TrueImage' which includes an option to mount the backup.

It seems to be hit and miss. On one PC an uninstall/reinstall fixed the problem. However, on two other PCs, an uninstall/reinstall did not fix the problem. The backups can be mounted but it is so much easier to just use Windows Explorer to open the backups. There must be some reason that it works on some but not others. It really is something that Acronis should address.

OK, I guess I am a bit confused by this inability to double click and browse a tib file!

Someone recently advised that the install sequence can matter.
So I uninstalled ATI and ADD, ran cleanup, and installed ATI, followed by ADD.
No change.

Someone recently advised that during install, ATI should alter windows explorer to provide that ability, which I assume also means the new "file explorer" in Win10. So just to test, I did a re-install of the Win10 update. Then repeated the install sequences above!
Still no change!
Is there some place I can look to see if the file explorer alteration does in fact take place? Have I miss interpreted some of the earlier advise?
If it seems I am playing these games with "too much time on my hands", you may be right, but I do have occasions to need to retrieve a folder from a tib file. It can of course be done by mounting the backup, which does work as designed, but is much quicker and easier with a double click browse, which use to work!

Do like Simon did. Run a repair by starting the TI install file.
But before you expend any more energy, try this.
If using Win 10,
Right click on any tiib file,
Choose open
and see if that opens into your backup file same as the double click did.
Let us know.

I did as you ask, with these results:
1> Ran a repair, using a fresh download. Had done that couple times already.
No change.
2> Right click tib file, choose open.
Same result as double click.
Screen capture shows result of all attempts to open tib with file explorer.

Robert,
The screenshot error message looks like True Image .tib file association is set for Internet Explorer to open. Windows Explorer should be used to open True Image .tib files. You can check the default values for file type extensions in Windows Control Panel. Below is a link that shows how in Win 7 and 8.

Did that file association result from the Win10 upgrade?
Should the install of ATI have reassigned/corrected it? (see my install sequences in post #16)

I would say your assumption is correct. Who knows why that occurred however. Should an install or reinstall of ATI have fixed the problem? I would think so and it probably does or has in some cases reading through the post in this thread. Why it does not in all cases is mystery. I suspect some of the other users whom posted here have the same issue.

I was about to try the file association 'solution', but do not need to do so since double click now works after updating to build 5620.
However it is taking a long time to open the archive I selected.

Where are your backups stored? If external media or network share that could explain some delay. If on traditional HDD that can increase opening time as well although that should not be by much.

Hi, the backup is on an internal HDD (1TB WD Black SATA 2). I rebooted the PC and it worked properly.

[OFF TOPIC BUT RELATED]
Just tried to open ATI 2016 (build 5620) and again have the 'Cannot create a data base'. I had this problem on the PC in question when I updated to the prior version. Not impressed.

Update 18-09-15: Acronis technical support suggested removing and reinstalling ATI 2016; so I removed ATI 2016 and Media Creation, emptied the recycle bin and ran registry clean-up. Powered off the computer; powered up again and emptied the recycle bin and ran registry clean-up. Installed ATI 2016. At end of installation clicked on Start Application (or something similar) and ATI 2016 crashed. Powered of the PC and restarted. ATI 2016 then worked correctly and I could open and mount *.tib files.

I had another update today which installed ok but after a restart I found that my Acronis was no longer activated. The problem was that somehow during the update, Acronis chose to pick up my previous 2015 version product key. I reentered the key for 2016 and it activated ok. How would this happen??

This probably happened because the product keys are held in Windows registry. A system restart is required for registry changes to become active after a change is made so if you did not restart the system after the upgrade then the product key change was not effective and the old 2015 key remained.

I see, missed that in your post. That could be a couple of problems. Since I am not a programmer it is hard to say what exactly. There have been issues with activation so something that needs to be looked at by development.
I would encourage you to use the in product Feedback to report the issue to Acronis. You can find that feature in the Help section (book icon).
