Slow restore

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I purchased Acronis Cloud 2016 and Acronis Home 2015.

I used Cloud to backup my old computer, which took about 8 hours for a 200GB drive over wireless.

I am now trying to restore the image to a new, more powerful machine over ethernet (wired.) The restore has been running over 30 hours by now, and is still only at 10%. The line is a Verizon FIOS line, with up/down speeds in excess of 80 Mbps (as of this moment). Why would the recovery be so much slower than the backup? Am I missing something?

I figured I'd try to just download the image and restore from local network or even local drive, but the Acronis website is hanging on the "Preparing for Download" window.

I would be most grateful for any help whatsoever.

Thanks!!

Dave

Restoring to different hardware in this way may not work. To restore to different hardware you should be using Universal Restore. Not sure if that works with cloud backups - I have not tried to do so.

The hardware difference and absence of necessary drivers for the new hardware may be causing the recovery to hang.

According to the instructions, the way to restore is to first restore, then load the drivers using Universal Boot.

Anyway, the issue at this point is the extreme slowness of the restore, much slower than the backup. The backup took overnight. The restore is looking like it will take 2 weeks.

That doesn't seem like a viable product. Shouldn't there be a way to restore an entire machine from the cloud in a practical time frame?

If the answer is to download the image and restore from disk, then fine. But when I try to download, I never actually progress to the actual download. I'm stuck waiting from the server until the server is declared unavailable.
