Failed to verify DSA signature

Thread needs solution

I have found errors in the backup log for what Acronis calls a successful backup. I am slightly concerned that I might have a problem if I need to restore these images. Any info would be appreciated. build 5634

2 True Image 9/24/2015 3:00:02 PM Failed to verify DSA signature.
3 True Image 9/24/2015 3:00:02 PM error:0D07209B:asn1 encoding routines:func(114):reason(155)
Thank you.

Did you choose the option to encrypt the backup in the backup task?

If so you should attempt to access the created backup and enter the key you created for the backup. If that fails then yes you have a problem.

No, I never chose to protect the backup. I worried that I might have set up protection inadvertently but Acronis has the backup protection devised that you have to put in a password and confirm the password before you can even turn this option on.

I am now trying to recreate the error with a new backup scheme. If the same errors occur I will attempt a restore to see what happens.

Strange that a DSA signature as far as I know refers to a Digital Signature so I am not quite sure what to make of that. You can go through the restore steps all the way up to not actually choosing Proceed with the restore to see how the app responds.

You can also view the backup using file explorer. It is possible to drill down to a single file level doing that and then a right click on a file will allow you to copy that file to another location which is a pretty good way to test if you can in fact restore a backup or not. If this works chances are a restore of the backup file would work.

I created another backup scheme and had the same result in the log file. However, I was able to explore and copy files from the .tib as well as restore the backup successfully. I am beginning to believe that the DSA signature being referred to has something to do with partitions or files. Still searching.

Thanks for your input.

I have the same 'failed to verify DSA' issue whenever I do a cloud backup. I have encryption set up and can browse the backup ok online.

Backups to external physical media don't give the DSA warning.

CORRECTION - Just noticed that backups to an external USB drive DO give the same DSA warning.

I've got the same effect with a new and hastily set up ATI2016 that was running for the first time yesterday to an external USB 2.0 HD:

Same for me to an external USB drive.

Backup completes ok, but it would be less stressful knowing what those errors are about...

I'm having a similar issue: 1 True Image 9/28/2015 4:15:45 PM Backup reserve copy attributes: format tib; need_reserve_backup_copy false; 2 True Image 9/28/2015 4:15:45 PM Failed to verify DSA signature. 3 True Image 9/28/2015 4:15:45 PM error:0D0680A8:asn1 encoding routines:func(104):reason(168) 4 True Image 9/28/2015 4:15:45 PM Operation Sofia started manually. 5 True Image 9/28/2015 4:15:45 PM Operation description: Stage Description. 6 True Image 9/28/2015 4:15:47 PM Backup reserve copy attributes: format tib; need_reserve_backup_copy false; 7 True Image 9/28/2015 4:15:47 PM Operation: Backup up to 12 True Image 9/28/2015 4:17:06 PM Operation has succeeded.

And I received the following note from Acronis Support on 10/05/2015:

I've checked regarding this with my experts and unfortunately its a bug in the program. The issue has been reported to our development team and they are working on it.

You can ignore the error message(s) and continue using the product for creating backups.

Make sure to validate the backups once they are completed. The following article will be helpful:

http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2016/#7957.html

I have the same issue. I checked and the error only began to surface after updating to the latest build. I am backing up to Acronis cloud.

Hello, everyone

This issue has been reported to the development team.

In the meanwhile, the error messages can be safely ignored.

Same here.... but only on 1 of 3 pc's on the subscription.

I have been ignoring this error for a while now, with only minor concern.  My details:

" Failed to verify DSA signature.  ...  error:0D07207B:asn1 encoding routines:func(114):reason(123)."

Using True Image 2016, build 5634.  (Note:  DSA = Digital Signature Algorithm)

BTW:  Why does Acronis need admin access before it even opens the program?

I have the same issue with build 5634

each backup is reported as "completed successfuly" but the reports include those messages:

Failed to verify DSA signature.

error:0D07209B:asn1 encoding routines:func(114):reason(155)

I read Dmitry's reply above that those messages can be ignored, still I feel unsafe when I get such error messages on backups.

Any prediction when a new build will be released and whether it will solve that problem?

@Dmitry I have the same error in all of my backup jobs, but I will not see any error in the UI unless I choose to mail the backup log.

I see a lot of discussion about DSA failures but it is not clear to me if this is a bug in the process of being fixed. Should I be concerned about either of these error messages?
