Thread needs solution

Greetings. I’ve been using [competitor name redacted] to backup my data, and I’ve been very happy with it, but I recently discovered that if I have to backup more than a 1TB of data, I need to allocate more RAM, at a rate of 1GB of RAM per 1TB of data, which could lead to a serious slowdown. So I’m looking for a replacement that’s as comparable to their service as possible. I’ve got a few questions about your service:

1. How much RAM does your backup app use? Does the amount increase/need to increase if I have more data to backup?

2. [competitor name redacted] offers data de-duplication, so if, for example, I have three copies of the exact same file, it only uploads that file once, and just marks it as being in multiple locations. Similarly, if I MOVE a file on my computer, it doesn't re-upload it. Does your service offer something similar?

3. [competitor name redacted] also offered block-level backups, so if, for example, I have a 6MB Word Document, and I open it and add a few sentences, instead of uploading the entire file, it just uploads the new/altered data blocks. Does your service offer something similar?

4. [competitor name redacted] lets me create “backup sets” groupings of folders, each with their own rules, such as what hours each set will run during, their priority compared to other sets, etc. Does your service offer anything similar?

5. If I delete a file on my computer, how long is it retained on your servers?

Hi Mattew,
Acronis True Image Cloud doesn't offer deduplication, however, if you select Acronis Cloud as a destination by default after the first full backup only changes are backed up (so called incremental backups):

Yes, you can create multiple backup sets:

Retention period for your backups you can select when creating a backup task:

As for RAM usage, I would recommend downloading our trial version, because RAM consumption depends on multiple factors:

Thank you,

Can you please confirm if that means incremental backups are at the block level rather than the file level? http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2016/#13711.html implies it is by saying that adding a page to a document means only that page is added to the backup, but what happens if you edit a document, does it only backup the changed parts of the file? Or for example an image that has been altered, is the whole image then reuploaded or only changed parts of the file?

Hello,

I am thinking of upgrading my 2014 to the Cloud version and I currently have about 2.5 TB of data plus my operation system and programs.  My current internet speed is 200 mbs download and 30 mbs upload.  Approximately how long would the back up take?
