Hi David Blum,

That, I don't know. However, Acronis states that Acronis True Image 2014 is not supported for Windows 10. I do indeed know, that Acronis True Image 2014, does indeed install in Windows 10 and you can do a Full Image Backup. Why buy Acronis True Image 2016? So far, it doesn't have the ability to read Comments / Description added to Backup, once you created them, from the installed Acronis True Image 2016 from within the operating system.

I use TI 2014 on three Windows 8.1 computers and it works fine. From what I've read, I need TI 2015 or 2016 for Windows 10. If indeed Acronis TI 2014 will work in Windows 10 then I'll gladly scrap TI 2015/2016. Can others verify that TI 2014 works on Windows 10?

Acronis has dumbed down 2015/2016 making it nearly unusable!

I have a weekly BU task the runs each Sunday. I create a new one each month and name them like “2015_Sep.” Today un-scheduling my August task and creating a new September task on my desktop using ATI 2014 and on my tablet using ATI 2015. Here’s the difference in un-scheduling my 2015_Aug and creating the new 2015_Sep task.

Un-schedule my “2015_Aug” task: In my 2014 task list it’s easy to see the info for each task as shown below. In the 2015 task list there’s nothing but the name and BU file destination folder. I have to select each task one at a time to see its info in the right side panel. The task list in 2015 doesn’t seem to be sorted and there isn’t any option to sort it either. To un-schedule my task in 2014 I just click Schedule in the task. In 2015 I have to click Operations then Edit Settings then Option. Three steps instead of one. Clearly 2015 is more difficult.

Create my “2015 Sep” task: In 2014 I click Disk and partition backup. I get one panel as shown below. The default source is clearly displayed. Select the destination and name it. Click Schedule and set the day/time. In this panel I see all the setting including that the BU scheme is Incremental. Select the drop down in the Backup now box and choose Later and I’m done. Simple!

In 2015 I click Add Backup then click Create New Backup. For Source click Entire PC (is it including backing up my SD card???). When I click Destination, although I’m backing up my whole PC it shows me a desktop folder with subfolders, one of which is This PC. The hierarchy of PC under Desktop makes no sense to me. When I drill down to my folder on my destination USB drive it doesn’t show the contents so I could be creating a duplicate file or be in the wrong folder. I had to open File Explorer to check. I finally found that I could rename the BU at the top of the panel.

After I’ve save it, the task appears in the left task list but there is no schedule info in the right panel. I have no idea which tasks will run unless I open each. I opened the new task's Options again and it is scheduled for Sunday at 6am weekly so it should show Last BU blank and Next BU Sunday. This is a terrible user interface.

To add to this, I had a backup failure this morning. Where's the error log in 2015 so i can find out what caused it?

I went to email Acronis tech support and they requested the version number. Where do I find it? How do I check if an update is available?

Hi Ray F.,

Acronis True Image 2014 does indeed install and work in Windows 10. However, Acronis does not support it in Windows 10, because they have newer versions that they are currently supporting for Windows 10.

I know that Full Backups with Acronis True Image 2014 do indeed work in Windows 10. I don't use Incxremental Backups. Full Backups restore faster than Incremental Backups.

If you use Backup Comments, then stick with Acronis True Image 2014. Acronis True Image 2015 and 2016, can't read the Comments in the operating system from Images you personally have added Comments to.

OMG!

It doesn't suprise me at all that new versions have incompatabilities with previous backups. It seems that Acronis has both forward and backward compatability issues.

I assumed that is was a fact that I had to use 2015 to upgrade to Windows 10. If it's only a lack of support, I'll give it a try. I've been using Acronis for years and their "support" isn't of much value to me. First it's only free for 30 days and after that my experience has been a waste of time with a lot of back and forth dialog but usually no solution. Grover in this forum knows much more about their product than they do.

Okay guys, let me b emore precise here...:)

i own all three releases of True image i do not need a recap :) I do not mix images versions ;9

the issue is as follows with 2016 at least

create image with 2016.. no conversion tool available (which hinders the added value of product if you ask me)  :)
