True Image Home no longer sends email notifications to gmail
Hi all
In the last year Gmail has changed its security so that less secure apps can no longer access Gmail. I think this is the reason that my Acronis True Image Home no longer sends notiifications enails to gmail.
I have the same security settings I've always had but emails no longer send. If I change the settings in Gmail to allow it to be accessed by less secure apps I can recieve emails from Acronis, however this is clearly not a desireable solution.
What is everyone else doing to get round this?
Regards, Andrew

Hi GroverH and thanks for your post
Have tried everything in the link you suggested and no joy. Have followed the Gmail troubleshooting guide and no joy. Have done the telnet test and I can connect to the smtp server with the command prompt.
The only way I can get email notifications to send is when I change the settings in gmail to allow it to be accessed by less secure apps.
Any other thoughts?
Regards, Andrew

Another option is to use the email services of your internet provider as the outgoing.
Your Gmail could remain as the incoming and for all your normal mail,
as using the internet provider settings is just for the outgoing of TrueImage.

Sorry GroverH - you've lost me a bit. Could you expand on what you mean?
Cheers, Andrew

Many people have more than one email address.
The company that provides you internet service most likely provides you with the capability of using it to send and receive email.
YOu could user your isp email address as the outgoing provider.
For example, the company that I use for sending and receiving my email is Yahoo.
My internet service is provided by Charter. I have the option of using Charter or any 3rd party email service.
So my choices for TrueImage notification is Charter or Yahoo. I can use either one but I choose to use Charter for my TrueImage notification outgoing setting as per attachement. This notification function only relates to Acronis sending notification and has no effect on your normal email.
Also, your Anti-virus program can prevent your Acronis email from succeedeing.
Whatever program you use for Acronis email must be enabled in your AV program.

Hi GoverH
Many thanks for your help. In the end I set up an additional gmail account just for acronis and have the security settings set so it will it to be accessed by less secure applications. I use this account to send an email to my regular gmail account.
Thanks for the tips, Andrew
