Acronis 2015 does not delete old backup versions (disk full problem)
Hi,
I tried to create different backup schemes (incremental, difference, full backup).
When I choose ANY type of automatic delete policy for old backups (e.g. "remove versions older than 7 days", Acronis in the next weeks NEVER deletes any old version and new backup give me the error of "full disk".
I had to manually remove the old backup and re-set the entire backup scheme.
My Acronis 2015 is up to date Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit up-to-date.
I cannot believe this is a bug. How can I fix this?
Thank you

I cannot get all of my backups to show in the "Backup" list in the 2015 version. I have used the instructions in Help which are: Click Add backup, then click existing backup, Select a backup version, and then click add. When I do those steps, I get no results when I click Add. I like to have about 4 backups saved.

JIm,
1. Were all the missing backujps created uising the 2015 version?
2. Is the 2015 a fresh new install or was there a prior verson of TrueImage installed?
If prior version installed, was 2015 upgraded or installed overtop of the prior?

edit:
Don't forget. The program will NOT make the deletion but until AFTER the replacment backup tib file has been created so you always needs free space for the replacment before a deletion can occuor. See examples. The option "deleted older than 7 days" is really saying
After all the backups stated above have been created, wait 7 days and then delete the oldest chain.
The screen capture will help us to see how many backups are being created before the countdown starts
Ahhhh, this could be the problem!
I will try. Thank you. By the way there should be an option to change this behaviour or at least it should be better described.

I agree. Many of us have suggested that the user have the option to have the older files deleted by user choice--before/after but the suggestion so far has fallen on deaf ears.
YOu need enough free space for a full backup in order to avoid the "disk full" message.

Peter,
Show me a picture of your backup scheme settings, plus a picture of the storage folder showing the tib files.

Thank you Peter. I agree. So far, this make no sense. The time and frequency is crazy.
You have two tasks named Libraries and both pointing to P:Acronis Backups
Is the other task making backups and putting them in the same folder?
Were these backup tasks created new using the 2015 version?
Have you edited or made changes to these tasks after they were created?
One possible explanation to the small size and frequency could be that one or both your disks has disk errors.
You might want to do an error check.
If I am reading your captures correctly, I would create all new tasks but each new task needs to have a task name different than any other.
Each task could be Libraries1, or Libraries2, or Libraries3, etc. Likewise, I recommend thst each task have its own storage sub-folder so there is no intermixing of tasks. Don't attempt to change any task but create new tasks. The task name will be the name used to assign name to the tib file .
Folders could match the task name such as
P:\ACRONIS BACKUPS\LIBARARIES1
P:\ACRONIS BACKUPS\LIBARARIES2
P:\ACRONIS BACKUPS\LIBARARIES3
If your 2015 is an upgrade over a prior version, you may need to run a 2015 Cleanup utility (item 4 inside my signature) and start fresh with A NEW INSTALLATION AND all new tasks. If it happened before, it may be a procedure you are using and starting fresh could help. This next lnk may be of additional assistance.

Do run an error check to confirm that that it is or is not the issue.
You could change the sort order inside your storage folder so the tib backups would be in date/time order.

Mr Grover,
Ran disc check all OK.formatted all taget HDD's,deleted all prior back up sets still same problem.
Uninstalled Acronis 2015 reinstalled and all seems fine. Entire PC backup worked and a custom daily incremental BUp works great.
Thanks for your good guidance -peter
