Restoring partitions to larger drive – Acronis Secure Zone

Thread needs solution

Question:

In preparing my backup to restore my C drive to a larger C drive, do I also backup Acronis Secure Zone? When I set Acronis to back up all C-drive partitions, I receive a box saying that backing up Acronis Secure Zone is not recommended.

Background:

Grover’s Index on “Upgrading to larger harddrive V9-10-11" suggests that all partitions on my C drive be backed-up.

I have Acronis 2009.
Dell Precision M65 existing 60 GB C
New C drive will be Western Digital 320 GB Scorpio Black
Windows XP SP 3

Thank you for any help.

Hello Via!

Thank you for finding time to open the thread regarding this question, I will be glad to assist you!

Acronis Secure Zone is actually a separate hidden partition, so there should be no difficulties in case you doesn't include it to the image alongside with drive C:. We also do not expect any issues in case you backup the Secure Zone. It wasn't recommended just for purposes of saving space and in order to avoid messing with backups compression (backups saved to the Secure Zone and backed up again - it may cause some issues).

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Thank you for the response. I am about to attempt to replace my 60 GB C drive with a 320 GB C drive and then do a restore and partition resize. oh boy....
