HUGE backup files with ATI2016
When I try to create the first (full) backup, ATI2016 is creating at least 10 backup files of about 130GByte each (>1TByte) but I'm only asking it to back up about 400GByte! It is also taking 20 times longer than ATI2009 used to take.
The drive does contain several very large files, but these have been excluded using *.bin, *.db etc.
So - three questions:
1 Is it normal for ATI2016 to split the backup across multiple 130GByte files?
2a if YES, this suggests ATI2016 is backing up the excluded files - why?
2b if NO, why would it be doing it?

Options set to FILES. And the backup medium is the same HD that I've been using with ATI2009, and well capable of taking the file sizes.

Setting the application to backup files and folders are more choices than options. Use the Options tab on the bottom left of the main backup screen in the GUI to set or check the backup options.

You were the one who referred to Options and backing up sector by sector (but there is no such "option" on the option button).
The only things under Options are the schedule, the scheme (incremental etc), notifications, exclusions and a few advanced options. There's no setting there for sector-by-sector or files-folders, which is set when you pick the drive backup options when setting up a task.
This is diverting from my real problem in that ATI2016 is creating lots of 130GByte backup files (filling a 2TByte drive when told to backup a drive which currently has 1.2TByte of data, of which 800GByte is supposed to be excluded).
I've had ATI2016 for a couple of weeks now, and I still do not have a single backup of my 4 main drives. I'm feeling scarily vulnerable, and it seems to me that 2016 is clumsy and unworkable.
I think the only option is to uninstall, go back to 2009 and get a refund.

May or may not apply in this situation, but
In versions 2015 and 2016, a "Entire PC" is a backup of ALL INTERNAL DISKS, so if you have more than 1 internal disk,
the backup will include ALL that are internal. External USB or network drives excluded.
Anyone with multiple internal disks will need to perform Partition style backups in order to avoid unwnated disks in the backup.

Question, when you installed TI2016 did you first uninstall TI2009 from your computer?
