Recovery from acronis boot disk problem

Thread needs solution

I have acronis 2010 home addition backup and restore have gone well until I tried to experiment by going through recovery after I booted from Acronis boot disk. Everything loads but thats about it. I GET ERROR BOX acronis true image canno detect volume of system-c- date etc. Click browse to specify volume location, all efforts failed. When I manually loaded the archive of the system backup another error message "Acronis true image backup archive is corrupted" etc etc So in the event of crash the current situation would be useless if I used a bootdisk. My backup hard disk is a USB 1 TB

Tried same with my laptop went through the initial process which i thought would be almost automatic but not so.

recovery wizard first message :

"Select items to recover, there are 2 boxes NTFS [vistaos c:]"

and

MBR and tract 0

I did so then another message section,

Specify recover settings of c:

and then select location etc

So it seems the process of booting from a bootable acronis disk to recover a sytem is not so automatic.

Can anyone help? Am I doing something wrong? dont really want to go back to nortons or genie pro backup.

Thanks,

Bob
