GMail Notification Now Works - Solved!
I just upgraded from ATI 2011 to ATI 2016. I'm still trying to find my way around. ATI 2011 just seemed more intuitive.
Here's my question. I have a backup occuring every morning and I have a Validation which occurs once per week. In ATI 2011 I could easily access a log file which listed (in easy to read format) each process that was run over a selected period of time (eg backup, validation, etc.) and the result of that process (fail, success, etc.)
Does that capability exist in ATI 2016? If so, where can it be found? I really would like to know if my validation process has run and whether it was successful.

Thanks. Very helpful. I found the log files and was able to confirm that the validation had taken place. Certainly not as convenient as it was in ATI 2011 but it is there.
If I add the notification options to my existing backup scheme will it have a negative impact on the backup scheme? My experience with Acronis is that it is always safer to construct a new backup scheme from scratch rather than make edits to an existing scheme. It would certainly be easier just to make an edit to the existing backup scheme.

I agree with all of what you wrote. I advise all my posts not to edit an existing task, but you might try the edit as you have nothing to lose.

Having significant difficulty setting up a simple email notification. Trying to do this for a Gmail account. I used the information in the knowledge base with respect to mail servier (smtp.gmail.com), server port (465), Encryption (SSL) and I'm getting the following error:
http://kb.acronis.com/errorcode/
Event code: 0x0064022B+0x0000FFF0+0x8007000C
This error code is not in the knowledge base.
Any suggestions on this? Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks so much. I read through the material and tried various things. I finally concluded that the issue was the enhanced security features of Gmail which make it impossible to send an email within ATI. I did have the choice of reducing the security features within my Gmail account (that might have worked) or setting up a new Gmail account whose primary use would be for ATI. I decided to set up a new account. I found that once the new Gmail account was established, I immediately was successful in sending a test email message. My guess is that I will, at some point, be asked if I want to enhance the security features of this account and I will decline given its limited use.
The settings used to get the Gmail notification to work on this new account are as provided in the standard ATI suggested configuration settings as follows:
E-mail address should be without brackets, e.g. username@gmail.com
Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
Server port: 465
Username: username@gmail.com, password: your_gmail_account_password;
Encryption: SSL
As a side note, I did test the port using telnet and found that it wasn't a firewall issue. It was clearly a Gmail security issue. Effectlvely, it's the same issue that precludes me from receiving Gmail on my old iPod that used to work flawlessly until it refused to upgrade to newer versions of IOS.
I've modified my existing backup scheme and added an email notification to it. I am hoping that the addition of the notification has not somehow corrupted the rest of the backup scheme. I'll find that out in the course of the next few days.

Glad you had a successful conclusion.
Would you mind editing your very first posting and add maybe to the subject title such as
Gmail notification now works-- solved.
so others might benefit.
Thanks and Merry Christmas.

As a follow up question. I am getting an email notification each morning when my backup is run.
My first verification process ran this morning. According to the logs, the verification was successful.
Should I have received an email notification of the successful verification process? Or is there an additional notification email that I have to set up. Why would the daily backups generate an email but not the weekly verification?

Did you see my posting #9 above of Dec 15. This you will need to do.
As for your question, I don't know. What you might do would be after you have performed the chore in task #9, you mght look at that specific script (*.tib.tis) file and see what the coding is, and then add the same coding to the validation script. That might work.
The script ID for the validtion is probably the one with the date/time of the validation run.
The script ID for the backup run is probably the one with the date/time of the backup file.
A review of your service log file for those dates can also supply you with the script ID number.
Scripts found in this folder.
c:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImagehome\Scripts
notepad can be used to view or edit the *.tib*.tis files. Also the name of task (for those that have names) can be found in upper left corner of the file when viewed in Notepad. The validaton only scripts may not have identifying names in upper left corner.

Thanks so much for the assist. I'd like to make sure - I did make the edit that you suggested in #9. I made that edit a week ago and I've been getting emails with helpful subject lines since then. With the validation process (once a week), there was no email whatsoever.
With respect to the validation, are you saying that there is a problem with ATI in that it doesn't send out an email for a validation task? And you are suggesting that I modify the script (or fix the problem myself)? I don't have a problem doing that. Please confirm. I wonder why ATI doesn't fix this?
I have also realized, after uninstalling 2011 and installing 2016 that I'm left with a non-functional Windows Backup/Restore functionality in Windows 7. Now I'm reading that the "fix" is to go into the registry and start to edit registry entries which is something that I'm always very averse to doing. I'm starting to wonder whether this "upgrade" to 2016 was really worth it. So far, it has been less than pleasant.
In addition, periodically my entire system slows to the point where my mouse is almost non-functional. This started to happen immediately after installation of 2016 and I'm starting to think that it is directly related. The problem is even if I get to a place where I want to uninstall this thing and look for another solution, I'll still be left with a non-functional Windows Backup/Restore.

With respect to the validation, are you saying that there is a problem with ATI in that it doesn't send out an email for a validation task?
you can tell that better than me as I do not use the later scheduled validatiion. All of my validation is either at time of backup or a later manual validation.
And you are suggesting that I modify the script (or fix the problem myself)? I
Yes but I do not know whether the fix will work on a task just written for validation. What I was suggesting that might work was adding the same revised code from the backup task into the validation task. I don't see Acronis adding this enhancement any time soon, but of course, I am not associated with Acronis and do not speak for them. I am just another user as are you.
If you can find a solution to your Windows backup, I would attempt the solution. A restore of a prior backup could always undo any bad effects.

I found the solution to the Windows Backup issue. Apparently, with ATI 2011, if you integrate ATI with Windows Backup then the program changes some keys in the registry. Upon uninstallation, the registry keys do not revert back to their original state so the keys still point to ATI 2011, even though it is not there. Apparently, the ATI clean up utility that is recommended to completely uninstall ATI 2011 doesn't fix this issue. So, I needed to utilize registry fixes in order to get the registry back to where it was prior to the installation of ATI 2011. That was a bit hairy for me (I don't like tinkering with the registry) but that has been addressed at this point.
I am saying that the standalone backup does not send an email of any kind. I am getting email validations when a backup is completed and I am getting a desscriptive result in the message header thanks to the edit you showed me. But there is no email coming for the validation. Are you getting a separate validation email when you validate as part of your backup?
I don't consider this an enhancement. Under ATI 2011, I was accostomed to clicking on the help button and immediately clicking Logs to get historical logs (sorted by date, etc.) for every backup and validation task that occured. That easy access to historical logs has been eliminated and I've tried, based on your kind suggestion, to get some additional functionality out of it by setting up email notifications. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it works.
Also, I think that I have identified what was slowing my system to a crawl. I disabled the acronis sync agent service, which was running in the background. I am not syncing with any other devices so there is no need for it to be running. Machine seems to be back to its old "peppy" self now.
I understand that you are just another user that is attempting to help and I certainly appreciate it. I'm sorry if I came off sounding ungrateful; I certainly didn't mean to come off that way. But I must say, I'm very frustrated that the "upgrade" from 2011 to 2015, which I did only in preparation for installation of Windows 10, has created such a time consuming web of unintended consequences. I am simply not understanding how a version from four years ago that worked flawlessly (for me) now seems to be bogged down in issues that are so difficult to resolve. The Windows Backup issue has taken me hours to undo (and it is only 90% fixed - it runs but it doesn't recognize my secondary internal backup drive - but that is an issue for another day and may not be related to Acronis).
I have seen at least one (perhaps 2) other posts that refer to notification emails not working for stand alone verifications. But I've not found any thus far related to ATI 2015 or 2016.
I want to reiterate that I do appreciate your assistance. You've also helped me historically with my use of Chain2Gen. I used that consistently under ATI 2011 because ATI 2011 didn't have the flexibility I needed. A truly incredible reality is that ATI 2016 still doesn't have the flexibility that Chain2Gen added five years ago! (which I truly find to be incredible).
So a double thank you, GroverH.
