ATIH 2010 B7046 Boot-CD doesn't recognize Highpoint RocketRAID 2300 Controller

Thread needs solution

I use the Dutch Version of ATI Home 2010. I recently upgraded to the latest build 7046. I don't have PlusPack installed.

My mainboard is an Asus P5QL-E on which a Highpoint RocketRAID 2300 (PCI-Express x1) is installed. There, two WD1000FYPS 1TB-harddisks are configured as a RAID1 array. The array works without any problems. There are no hard disk drives installed on the built in Intel controller.

Recently I was wondering if the rescue-CD would work at all if I really needed it to do so. To find out, I booted the 7046 build of the CD. Unlike what I was used to, there was no screen where I could select the mode in which I wanted to start ATI. There were endless messages from Linux while booting up.

After a long time of waiting, an error message came up. I don't remember what exactly it said, but it was something about to many retries. Finally, ATI came on screen, but at the same time the internal PC-spreaker started to beep very loudly. I powered down the system immediately by pressing the power-switch for 4 seconds because I was afraid something bad will happen.

When I tried to boot Windows (I have Win7 32bit installed) again, an error telling Windows can't be started came up. I finally found out the MBR was broken, and I think this came from the Acronis Rescue-CD. After I fixed the MBR, Windows booted again and no further problems came up. As it seems, no data have been damaged. However, that a "Rescue-CD" causes a "desaster" (a "normal" user maybe doesn't know what to do at all in this situation) is not acceptable. At least an error message that no harddrives or no hard-drive controller has been detected should appear. I didn't do a single click / step inside the ATI rescue program, i.e. I hadn't to chance to do anything wrong in there.

I'm very sorry I can't give you any further details, and you will certainly understand I'm not planning to try it another time to see precisely this time what happens. All in all I plead for an (additional) WinPE-based version of the Boot-CD which should be to download directly from Acronis. Less driver problems, but at least I expect to have this problem fixed ASAP.

Hello Matthias,

Let me help you.

It seems that some drivers for your RAID controller are missing in the standard version of the Acronis bootable media or the media detects your RAID incorrectly. In such case I may recommend you to try a special version of Acronis Booatble Media that has a different hardware drivers set implemented and actually it's more up to date than the one created with Bootable Media Builder.

  1. Log in to your account (if you do not have one, you will need to create it);
  2. Once logged in, click My Products & Downloads:

  3. Scroll down to the registered product and click Bootable Media:

  4. Click Download:

  5. Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. See Burning an ISO Image.

If the issue still persist with that latest ISO image, please collect Acronis Linux Report along with Windows System Information and submit a support request.

Please reply to this thread if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.

Hello Ilya,

The boot-media you refer to is the one I actually had the issue with! I am an experienced user of Acronis products for about 10 years, knowing that it is always best to download the latest bootable media.

Hello Matthias,

In you case we need some additional information to investigate the issue and to provide you with a solution.

Could you please do the following?

Collect Linux System Report;

Collect Windows System Information;

Submit a support request with the gathered data.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.
