Excessive space requirements

Thread needs solution

I am backing up approximately 210GB of data using a differential backup scheme.  However, each FULL backup is consuming over 320GB of space.  The backup is being broken up into 2 .tib files (example: Entire PC (SERVER)_full_b3_s1_v1.tib (using 159,070,185KB of space) and Entire PC (SERVER)_full_b3_s1_v1-2.tib (using 163,272,708KB of space).  It's the "-2" addition to the second file name that concerns me.  I have not requested that a reserve copy be created.

Why would the program require 50% more space for a backup than than the original data being backed up?

The 1-2 is a a new single full. I'll bet there is a time differential.

The program adds the -2  when it sees there is already an existing file with the intended name. I don't know why it wanted to use the same name.

If it were me, I would stop making backups with that task and start over with a new task with a new task name pointing to a new storage folder.

To me, the -2 is questionable for reliability.
