No Acronis icon in notification area?

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis 2016 installed.  Backups working.  However, there is no icon in the notification area of the taskbar.  I have tried to customize the taskbar and have selected to show Acronis in the taskbar, but to no avail.  Can anyone advise why there is no icon and how to resolve this?

On my system I only see an icon in the notification area when Acronis is actually performing a task, i.e. a backup or sync etc. The rest of the time no icon is present even if I have the main application window open.

Ok - thank you.  Strange - I would have thought there would be one, over which I could hover, and see backup status (without having to open the application)

When any Acronis backup task is active, then hovering over the tray icon will give you information on how far the backup task has progressed with a percentage value completed.

Understood, thanks.  However, like perhaps a good number of people, I have Acronis set to run when my computer isn't active (middle of the night).  It would be useful if such an icon were in the notification area, and one could easily and briefly hover over it, in order to see the current "back up status", i.e. "backed up today", "backed up 12 hours ago", "backed up 2 days ago" etc.  (this is what Mozy, Carbonite etc. do)

I understand your concern, it was much easier to determine status with the previous versions of True Image where you could go directly within the application to the logs associated with each task and see how they did etc.  However with the 2016 version (and 2015 before it) you would need to setup email notifications to be sent for when each task is activated if you want to get these results advised to you without going trawling through the log files in the Program Data Acronis folders.

You could give feedback to Acronis to let them know your frustration in this area! Click on the Open Book icon and you will see an option to Send Feedback.

Hi sio,

Steve Smith is right: there's no icon in the tray notification area unless a backup task is running.

I also encourage you to send us your feedback - this helps us greatly to make our product better!
