I could really use help with TIH 2016 nonstop backup
My attempt at nonstop backup is not working. I am using TIH 2016 under windows 7 pro.
It appears to setup OK. It is set to backup entire C: drive to an external USB 3.0 with tons of space. It says it is starting but quickly stops. I dug up the logs from C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs, but those actually say "Initial full backup version has been created successfully." This is not true. Folder Time Explorer Storage has virtually no data.
The main menu shows a white exclamation point inside a red circle on the nonstop backup. I know that is an indication of trouble but I can't figure out the specific issue. I attached a screen shot.
Does nonstop b/u for TIH 2016 have any known issues working under windows 7?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

HI Pat - Yes it does. I have a daily differential backup for the C drive. Do you think that would affect the nonstop b/u? Eliot

I don't think the backup itself would pertubate the NSB, I was checking that there is no disk information issue. This type of issue could make the traditional backup fail.
NSB is hard to troubleshoot, because it is so opaque and rigid. You don't really know what is going on, when, what you should expect, and you don't know when you will run out of space, etc. This is why I stay away from it.
To troubleshoot it, uninstall Acronis completely, delete the Time Explorer Storage folder, reboot and reinstall. You will have to reimport your existing backup files and recreate the tasks for them, so it is onerous. Alternatively, contact Acronis support if you are still in the support period, or stay away from NSB: you can manually create a higher frequency incremental backup to approximate. If near real time is necessary, consider using sync software instead for the critical files.

Pat - Thanks again. Good advice. Opaque and rigid covers it pretty well. I really don't need a near real time b/u. Because I have the disk space, and just wanted it, I set it up. I can live a long, fruitful life without NSB.
