I now get "Failed to initialize the Snapshot manager library (0x100005)" when I try to backup... sigh... can anyone help?

Your error indicates possible snapshot manager coruption.  You might overcome the issue by rebooting your PC, a long shot but might help.  Beyond that you should attempt to run a repair on the app installation.  To do so open Add Remove Programs or Programs and Features if using Win 10, locate the Acronis True Image app in the list, select it and choose uninstall.  The result will be a menu from which you will have a Repair option.  If that fails then uninstall and reinstall the app would be the last resort.

I was also getting this error message "Failed to initialize the Snapshot manager library (0x100005)".

However, I deleted the Acronis program, shut off my anti-virus and reloaded the program and I'm now able to do a backup and it seems to work fine.
