Acronis 2009 won't proceed

Thread needs solution

I've backed up my computer to my hard drive and validated the backup many times over the last year.  Now, for some reason, I get the backup to the "proceed" point and I click on proceed and it doesn't proceed.  Instead, the "Tasks and Log" page appears.  It has the backup I'm trying to make listed, but the status is "idle".  I click on "start" but nothing happens.  I've gone through the procedure a dozen times.  I've done nothing different from what I've done in the past.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.  Don.

What build of TI 2009 are you using? You can find out by starting TI, pressing the Alt key and then selecting the standard Help >> About menu option.

Did you update TI before this problem started or have you always been using the same build?

Does the task start if you schedule it (for example, to start in one minute)?

I too have the same problem:

I have not upgraded or updated since my last successful backup in August. I'm using TI home 2009, build 9,646.

Hello Lee,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

Please update your version to the latest build (#9796).  You can learn more on how to download the latest build here. The scheduler module will be updated and the issue should be resolved. Don't forget to recreate the tasks.

Thank you.

Hello Oleg,

I'm having the same problem as Lee and Don. My True Image Home 2009 build is #9770. When I point my browser to the product updates page it claims that the latest build is #9770. How can I get the build #9796 you are referring to?

Hello Mikko,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

According to our database, you are an owner of the UK license of Acronis True Image Home 2009. The latest build for the UK license is build #9770.

We can update the scheduler module separately. Please download Acronis Scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service. The link is available here.

Extract the downloaded file, run install.bat and wait for the process to be completed. The utility will automatically update the service. Reboot the computer and re-create the task. The issue should be resolved.

Thank you.

This worked for me w/o updating anything.

(1) Start as Administrator
(2) Create your backup using RUN ONCE in scheduler
(3) right click the scheduled backup and choose start

I too have this problem with ATI Home 2009 (Build 9809; I did try ATI2010 but reverted to 2009 because of problems).
Scheduled backups happen; but if I right-click on a stored backup name and click Start, nothing happens; if I click 'Proceed' after working through backup creation, all that happens is that the backup editing window disappears and the previous window (e.g. Tasks and Event Log) remains. There seems to be no Log entry for these attempts.
I have (a) manually restarted the only Acronis Service listed by Windows (Acronis Scheduler2); (b) repeatedly run chkdsk on the source disk; (c) run a repair installation of ATI2009 from a .msi file created from the install .exe following the manual instructions. None of these cured the problem.
I have this problem with just one of my two ATI2009 installations but not the other. (The one with the problem runs over XP Home, the other over XP Pro, both fuly up-to-date.)
I can work around the problem by scheduling a backup once (and relying on the scheduler to start it) but is there a way to get rid of this nuisance? Thanks.
