Acronis True Image backup with serious data lost...please help!!!

Thread needs solution

Hello guys!

This is my first post...

I am a computer technician from Greece and I have a serious problem...

I took a computer backup with bootable Acronis True Image 2016 and when it was finished I checked it to see if is opening and data are there...

All looked to be fine...the backup had a serious amount of size in gigabytes it was opening and I saw the files...

The other day the backup was not opening and its size was zero (0) bytes....

Is there anyone that could help me restore the data of this backup cause I am in serious trouble if I don't?

Both hard disks where and are ok in the tests I have done to them....and the disk of the person that had the data and my disk that kept the backup...

I have used many recovery software to both disks but none worked until now except one that showed me some of the data and I managed to recover them but none of them were able to open

The disk that originally had the data was formatted and setup from the beginning plus all windows updates and some programs so all previous data logically were overwritten

The original disk gave me the data that couldn't read...

The problem is that the .tib format that Acronis is using is unique and maybe very few recovery programs can recognize it and if they do they only see the .tib file that is still in my disk with zero bytes...

I will really appreciate any kind of help!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Hello George,

Thank you for your posting! I'm really sorry to know that you are facing the issue with the recovery of the important data and would recommend to raise a support ticket. Please also try solutions from the following article: https://kb.acronis.com/content/1517

Thank you,

Hi!

Thanks for the reply Ekaterina!

I tried almost everything but still nothing came up...

Could you please tell me if you know any good recovery software that recognises the .tib file signatures of your products?

Thanks in advance for your time and effort to help me!!!

George,

When attempting to open/view the backup .tib file where you using the TI application or Windows File Explorer?  Since you were able to use some other application I take it to recover some of the data as you say but then were unable to open the data indicates to me that the data is still there.

Have you attempted to use the recovery media to recover the backup?  You should try that if you have not as I have a feeling that would allow you to recover the backup file(s).

If that works and you are successful in recovering your data.  I would recommend that you run a repair on the Windows TI installation.  This can be accomplished by usiing Windows Add/Remove programs or Programs and Features if you are running Windows 10.  Locate the Acronis True Image entry in the list, select it and choose Uninstall.  This will produce a popup from which you can select the Repair option.
