Unable to backup previously backed up system after changing windows 10 computer name

Thread needs solution

I have a Windows 10 portable which was updated to windows 10 home 64 bit from windows 7 home premium 64bit.

I used local (USB Disk) to backup the system with ATI 2016 before the upgrade.

I used ATI 2016 cloud to make an image backup after the upgrade.

I have renamed the system and I am now unable to create a new local (USB Disk) backup as ATI is looking for an existing backup file that does not exist even though I tell it to do a full backup.

What do I need to do to get ATI to let me create backups after changing my computer name?

Regards,

Norm

The default name for a backup is Entire PC.  In your attempt to create a new backup is the new backup name the same as the previous backup?  If so that is your problem.  When you select to Add a backup you have the abiliity to rename the backup immediately following the Add backup and change the name of the backup.  If you forget this you can change the name before executing the backup by right click on the backup task name and choosing Rename from the resulting menu.

I created a new backup, but when trying to run the backup, it is looking for an existing tib file based on the new computer name.

Since this is the first backup under this computer name it does not exist.

There are existing backup files under the old computer name.

I am assuming that some information was stored on the local computer indicating that a backup had been created and this does not recognize that the computers name has been changed.

A name change on the computer willl require all new backup tasks.   No two task names can be alike. All must differ.

This may help.
