Acronis DD 10.0.2288 and TI 2010.7046 together install problems

Thread needs solution

I have used earlier versions of DD and TI together for years and they got along wonderfully. The latest versions seem to not like to play together. I had an installation of three copies of Windows XP SP3 on a single partition and after trying to upgrade to the latest version of DD and TI I had pretty much the same experience as in Post 9768 in this forum. I have spent hours reading through the posts and still am not having much luck in installing a working system after trying the various suggestions. I am now getting the message on boot up "Acronis Loader fatal error: boot drive not found" . Is there a stratagy to installing both TI and DD and getting them to play together. I have started over with a fresh install of an XP backup I have numerous times and all goes well until I try to install either DD or TI along side the other and then the problems begin. My main interest in the Acronis software is the OSS functionality since I like to have multiple copies of the OS installed on my computer. Thanks for any help.

Are you installing DD before TI?

Are you rebooting between installations?

Did the current problem start only after activating OSS?

Are you trying to use the ASRM in addition to OSS?

I installed DD first and reboot before installing TI and you are correct in that the problem starts when I activate OSS. When I reboot the computer it boots into the OS I activated OSS in, no other choices. I have not gotten to the point where I have tried to activate the recovery manager in TI. I am assuming it is deactivated by default when first installed.

A few more items probably worth mentioning, I installed DD and copied the OS twice so that I had three copies of XP on one partition. They were working well and I had installed software to all three, no problems. I then installed TI to one of the copies while OSS was activated on that OS. I did not activate ASRM in TI. When I rebooted, the OSS boot screen was gone and it booted directly into the OS where I had installed TI. I tried a number of different things to reactivate OSS and things went downhill from there.

I don't recommend using the "Copy OS" feature of OSS. I don't like how it works. I prefer having different partitions for different operating systems.

OSS will probably have problems with the newer ASRM of TI.

If you have OSS installed to the Windows partition, you might want to try doing a Custom install and selecting a non-OS partition.

I would hope that OSS 11 (when released) will work better with the newer versions of TI.

Thanks Mudcrab for your response, I've had so many problems with my current approach that I will take your advice and try something different . Likewise, I hope DD11 will play better with their other applications.

I have a problem with Disk Director OSS selector 10 suite after update TI Home 2010 on the build 7046. OSS selector is disabled after the reboot and booted the XP SP2 system without selection. Activation of OSS Selectors appears an error message and ends the program. The error in detail is caused by a division by zero. Even if I have started the DD and performed a function and then stop the DD is the same abort message. The DD was installt before (build 2117) and was working OK. The TI Home 2010 was updatet from build 6053 to 7046.
The problem was not after update to 6053.
The BOTWIZ folder file CHECKFILE member ntldr maybe changed false....

Please give as users help to solve the problem as soon as possible....
Thank you very match.

dietrich wagner,

Are you using the ASRM from TI?

Have you tried reactivating OSS from the DD/OSS CD instead of from OSS in Windows? If your DD CD doesn't include the OSS programs you'll need to create one first using Media Builder.

MudCrab, I have been reading Dietrich's description and it is identical to my experience. I just wanted to add that when I try to activate OSS from the OSS/DD Cd I created with media Builder , I get the message "Acronis Loader fatal error: boot drive not found " and I am given the choice to press enter and the system will then boot into the OS where DD is installed. My system has three active partitions each with an identical copy of XP sp3 installed from a backup I did with TI. I have ASRM deactivated and I have installed OSS in a seperate partition.
I am trying to understand the details of how these programs work but I find the available documentation pretty vague in addressing a lot of the details .
Thanks,

Hello, i don't use in TI the ASRM. I have 2 XP Systems at to different Harddrives and Partition.
The OSS is installt on the Master-Drive only. The error occur at the Masterdrive only.
The activation from OSS/DD CD created with media Builder gives the same Message like newtr0n.
If i restore the xp sp2 with the systemrestore from XP then i get the Message that, in the BOTWIZ folder file CHECKFILE member ntldr was
restored. I think that the error created with the Build 7046 , has make mistake changes in the BOOTWIZ Folder.
The Software Developers shut be now, how the Error is.
i hope, that the correction takes as soon as possible.
Thanks
