F11 bootup disappears and have to reinstall it after any backup Acronis 11

Thread needs solution

This forum does not work with Opera 10 browser.
Okay, back to Acronis 11 from Acronis 2009...couldn't stand 2009 version.
Have to reactivate the F11 feature after every backup, since I am trying the do a backup at night and automatic shutoff this means the F11 feature is not available if I might NEED it.
If F11 does not work, I get message Boot drive partition not found, try booting into OS, hit enter.
I have an HP computer that used to have an F11 Recovery Partition but I deleted it.
Oh, when I look at Secure zone, there is a tiny UNALLOCATED SPACE to the right of it. Is this what is causing the problem?
I uninstalled 2009 in Control Panel and then used the Acronis cleanup tool and then reinstalled my Acronis 11. I have a system report attached. Whoops, can't attach it in Opera...sorry, web site doesn't work. Can I send it to someone?

If you do a full disk backup and then restore it, all the original partitions should be present. IF you deleted the HP recovery partition before you made the full backup, then it won't be present when you restore.

Scott,  this is after a BACKUP F11 does not work,  NOT a restore.

Get this message:

"Acronis Loader Fatal error:  Boot drive (partition) not found.  Press (Enter) to try to boot your OS."

Will try to attach acronis report file for tech support in IE8.

It's not clear what you are trying to do or where F11 is ocming into play, what is and isn't working, and what you have already tried to do about it.

Given all that mystery, I'll give it another go in case it's helpful. "Acronis Loader" error means the program's bootstrap (for loading Linux it can run independent of windows) isn't working. So I'm assumed you're trying to restore, which requires linux, but maybe you're trying to clone, which also requires booting into linux. Anyway, using the ATI recovery manager from within Wins can affect the boot sector and maybe you're running into that somehow. If so, have you tried using the Bootcd instead? If that works, then that's the way to go. If not, then you need to contact support about getting a diff version of linux of diff drivers for linux so that ATI can boot it on your PC.

But merely making a backup, even a full disk/partition backup, shouldn't alter anything on the source disk.

good luck.

Scott,

The "F11" is the ASRM prompt which has been activated. Apparently, when a backup is created, it somehow corrupts the booting of the ASRM which then requires it to be reactivated.

As suggested, it might be helpful to know if the ASRM also gets corrupted if the backup is performed using the TI CD. Or, if the corruption is happening when using the CD, see if it happens if the backup is performed using TI in Windows.

Hope,

TI 2009 (the latest build) and TI 11 link to the ASRM files differently. TI 11 uses the SZ while TI 2009 no longer requires it. If this problem happened after switching back to TI 11, perhaps it's necessary to remove the SZ, recreate it and then reactivate the ASRM.

Thanks, Mudcrab. If it was me, I'd bag any SZ and the ASRM, which would mean only that I would have to stick to the BootCD for restores. But you know this particular area better than I.

MudCrab (know what game you play...:))

The corruption is happening in a Windows Vista backup.
I'm not in any dire straits.  I can always just use the CD to restore if I have to,  but being a perverse 67 year old lady,  I was trying out the F11 feature and the secure zone for the first time in Acronis 2009, which I just purchased (have been using Acronis TI since version 6), and could not get it to work.
At the time I did not know my HP Recovery partition was causing problems.  Once I figured that out,  I made an Acronis backup of the Recovery Partition, deleted it and tried to recreate the secure zone and F11 bootup again.  Got really messed up and could not boot to OS at all.
Finally, I scrubbed Acronis 2009 as well as I could and started over with Acronis 11.
I now have a "Frankenstein" creation.   I tried creating the secure zone and F11 feature from my old Acronis 2009 disk and now I have F11 working through Acronis 2009 and Acronis 11 installed in Windows Vista!  That's the only way I could get both to work.
Don't worry,  I have extra backups I do every day and every 3 days to an internal SATA drive and an internal USB HP Personal Media Drive and I back those up occasionally to WD passport drives.
I would like to get the F11 to work with Acronis 11 though. I like the idea of not needing the CD drive at bootup because HP Cd drives often go bad after a few years.
