Free Trial and Upgrade installation problems

Thread needs solution

I just purchased an upgrade to ATI, having used ATI 2010 and also having received a limited function ATI 2015 from Crucial.  During the installation process, the installer stops and displays the following message:

Module C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\versions_view.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024703. Contact your support personnel.

I've uninstalled both prior versions and run the Acronis Cleanup Utility. I've also disabled my antivirus software during installation and run as an administrator.

One additional observation:  this occurs even when trying to install the 30 day free trial version of ATI 2016.

I'm guessing it's either a permission issue, or something left over such as an Acronis background service still in use even though you've uninstalled and run the cleanup tool.

You could try turning on "God admin mode", running clean tool with it and trying to install with it as well.  Don't use the free download installer, but grab the latest version from your accounts download section.

God admin mode...

  • You must enable the built-in administrator account
  • Right click my computer and click manage
  • Expand local users and groups
  • Click users - double click administrator
  • Clear disabled checkbox
  • Click Ok
  • Then right click the administrator and set password
  • Click ok then enter the password

Once you've done that, log in as "administrator" with your new password, run clean tool, reboot.  Log back in as "administrator" download and try to install the latest ATIH2016 installer from your account downloads.  Does it work then or same error?

If it works, disable God mode admin after that and hopefully all is well.  If not, I'd suggest contacting technical support:

Thomas, welcome to these User Forums.

This forum topic is over 2.5 years old with no recent activity, so if you do have an issue, you should either use the option to Create New Topic in the appropriate ATI version forum, or else would need to provide more information on exactly what problem you are seeing and what version of ATI is involved here, what Windows OS version etc?
