Recovery for Exchange: Serial expired after update to build 220
Hi,
First of all, the system: Windows 2008 Server 64bit, Exchange 2007. Acronis Recovery for Exchange Agent and Management Console are both installed locally on this system.
Two days ago we updated our Acronis Recovery for Exchange to build 220. We did this according to "KB-Article 1825: Updating Acronis Recovery for Exchange". The installation seemed to work without problems and the server has been restartet after the install/update.
But now, when I connect to the Acronis Agent, a message box appears saying: "The serial number has expired" (note: we're using the german version, so I can't guarantee that this is the exact error message in the english version).
When I then open up the "Register" dialog, I see that the correct serial number (according to our license certificate) is still entered. But the comment below it says: "The entered serial number is invalid. Enter a valid serial number" (again, this is translated from german to english be me...).
When I try to re-enter the serial-number (doesn't matter if I enter it manually or copy&paste it) an hit "enter" it says: "Entered serial number is accepted." (A green "i" is shown in this dialog). So THIS dialog connotes, that the serial number is indeed correct. But still the comment below stays the same, and the product is still not working. Can it be that our serial number is defective? But the old build worked flawlessly for over 6 months now with this serial...?!
The problem is quite urgent, as we cannot make backups of the exchange mailboxes right now.
Thank you very much in advance!
Regards,
Jens Freisen

Wait...
What is the correct file for use without a license server?
RecoveryMSExchange_d_de.exe
or
RecoveryMSExchange_s_de.exe
?!

Hello Jens,
Thank you for your response.
The correct file is RecoveryMSExchange_s_de.exe. RecoveryMSExchange_d_de.exe is a trial version.
I am sending an info to you via PMs.
Thank you.

Hello Oleg,
yes, finally the build 220 is doing it's job! The operative point was to rename the registry key "HKLM\Software\WOW6432node\Acronis\RecoveryMicrosoftExchangeAgent" before re-installing the product.
So the steps were:
1. Remove the old installation according to KB-acticle 1825
2. Rename the registry key
3. Install the new build (you are asked for the serial then). I used the new serial that was given to me be the supporter in the chat.
After that, the 220-build worked without the "serial expired" error. Nevertheless I had to recreate the backup taks: Although they all were still there, they all failed with error message "member invoke failed". So I just clicked all of the tasks through one time. After that, everything is okay now.
Thanks for your help!
Bye,
Jens

Hello Tim,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]
Please do the following to fix the issue, none of the step listed requires a reboot.
1) Please remove the application in accordance with this article.
2) Rename the following keys (Run -> Regedit):
32-bit Windows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Acronis \ RecoveryMicrosoftExchangeAgent
64-bit Windows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Wow6432Node \ Acronis \ RecoveryMicrosoftExchangeAgent
Please note: You should perform the uninstall before renaming the above keys, otherwise the operation will fail.
3) Download the latest build of Acronis Recovery for MS Exchange from http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/my/updates/
4) Run the downloaded installation package. Right-click on each component and select Extract. Save the files to a folder.
5) Double-click on the extracted files to install the application. Acronis Recovery for MS Exchange Agent should be installed on the machine that runs Microsoft Exchange Server.
Thank you.

Hi,

Hi everybody!
Good news: I managed to uninstall the old Version and install the new Version. The trick was to install the old agent again and then remove it. It seems that the unistaller already removed some of the files but then occured an error. After removing it I deleted the folder and changed the registry key.
During the installation of the newer version I typed in my serial number and it works fine.
The first Backups were successfully.
Thanks for your help!
