PLEASE HELP - "Failed to obtain the backup contents"

Thread needs solution

Product: Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for Windows Server v 11.5.43916.
Everything works and backs up fine.
But now I tried restoring a backup to a new Server and no matter what I do I cannot see the contents of the backups, getting: "Failed to obtain the backup contents".

I tried accessing both backup locations on two NASes and also on a local share on LAN. Nothing.

This is screenshot from AMS. The backup is there, I can see its contents - the volumes, MBR, all good. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/103763414/acro/4-13-15%2011-25-32.j…

But when I remote to a new server booted from Acronis bootable USB (or manage that server locally by browsing to any backup locations) I am getting "Failed to obtain the backup contents" when trying to view volumes. When trying to view disks the cursor just spins there forever.

Please help ASAP! This is a work stoppage and a freaking scary one! If I cannot access my backups when I need them, then I pretty much don't have any backups!

Thanks!

I tried accessing all 3 locations of the backup using "Storage node" and just shares on the network.
It either sees the backup but won't see the contents or just sees the archive but doesn't see backups inside at all:

Hello Nick,

If you are using the latest version of the bootable media (you created a new one after updating), I would recommend creating a support ticket to get this resolved.

You can also try a workaround: export the backup you want to a network share or other location (USB, for example) accessible by the machine where you run the restore.

Hi Igor,

Yes, the USB is a newly created bootable device created in the same installation (latest at the moment of downloading it).
Secondly, our support subscription expired, so I cannot create a ticket.
The 3rd location was a network share used just for that reason - exported to try booting.
P.S. после долгих танцев с бубнами восстанавливаемый сервер таки увидел архивы и был воссттановлен. Но проблема явно присутствует.

I had the issue of this, and found this thread, but it turns out the problem of "failed to obtain backup content" for me was that Acronis was not being run with administrator privileges.  This on a Windows 7 Professional x64 O/S.

Right click Acronis Backup 11.5 and choose 'run as administrator'.  Depending on the policy imposed on your computer it may require a password for an account with admin privilege.

HTH.
