Hello Thomas and Yair,
Have you tried a solution proposed by Yana at this comment? Was it helpful?
If the issue still persists, please gather the required information and submit a support request.
Thank you.

Well, I just uninstalled via the control panel and re-installed.
This seems to solve my problem, however I'm sure there is some bug that might return.
Thank you.

@Yair
Have you restarted your computer yet? The problem usually reoccurs at that time.

Sorry to butt in, some good stuff from all posters. Just wanted to add something about Revouninstaller that some may not know. There is a new pro version which you have to pay for of course. Apart from a few extras it does offer deeper uninstall scans but by far the best extra feature is to have it monitor the installation of anything and it can use the info it retains to uninstall later if needs be.

Yes I did, several times. No extra ghost tasks appeared.
As we know, dealing with computers is in fact an art, not exact science... :)

Hello All,
There has been an issue with Acronis Scheduler which in some environments caused task zap command issued in schedmgr.exe not to delete the information about scheduled tasks from the registry.
This issue has been fixed in builds of Acronis Scheduler starting from 416. The latest build of Acronis Scheduler is always available in this KB article.
The steps to resolve the problem would be the following:
1. Update Acronis Scheduler to the latest build, which is always available in this KB article.
2. Download schedmgr.exe, run it, and issue the following command in the command-line:
task zap
3. Re-schedule the existing tasks.

Sorry Ahmad, I tried your solution and upon reboot the ghost tasks reappeared along with the original scheduled task. I tried Yair's solution (uninstall from control panel and reinstall) and that seemed to have worked. I was hoping to avoid a reinstall, but I now think that's the only way.

Ahmad,
Thank your for the update.
Will the 7046 download and 7046 trial download be updated so new downloads will have the newer scheduler?

Thomas Loughry: Honestly, I doubt that the solution in this comment did not work. Did you follow all the steps? The first would be to update Acronis Scheduler to the latest build, and the second would be to issue task zap command in schedmgr.exe. In any case, I think it is too late anyway since you have already reinstalled the product.
GroverH: No, the new Acronis Scheduler will be included only in the next officially released build of Acronis True Image Home 2010. As I noted above, this issue (the fact that task zap command does not actually zap tasks) occurs very rarely, and should not be confused with other scheduler-related issues.

Sorry, you don't believe me, but I had build 7046 already installed. It was with the installation of this build that I started seeing the issue. I think I upgraded from 5055. At any rate, I downloaded the latest schedmgr from the link given. I then used it to "task zap." The two scheduled tasks I had and the ghost tasks disappeared ( i verified this through the Acronis True Image Application and through "get list"). I then rebooted and looked via the True image application and the two tasks were back. I then used "get list" in schedmgr and the two tasks along with the 4 ghost tasks were all back.
Maybe I failed to follow your simple instructions correctly? At any rate, my system seems to be o.k. since the reinstall.
Thanks for your help Ahmad.

Since Acronis is heavily discounting TI Home 2010 and the 2010 Plus Pack now, I will be surprised if they release a new update (past 7046) for TI Home 2010.
But I would not be surprised to learn that this "problem" was engineered into the 7046 build to help encourage people to update to TI Home 2011, where of course, we will find that the problem has been magically fixed...

I just tried Yair's solution to simply uninstall from the Control Panel in Windows 7 32 bit and then reinstalled and I still get the ghost apps. This did NOT work for me.
For one thing, when you uninstall from the Control Panel and look at your scripts backup folder - all the old tasks are STILL THERE...so how could this possibly work?
I'm going to try Ahmed's solution right now.
I am getting pretty discouraged and annoyed. :(

Ahmed's solution seems to have worked - fingers-crossed.
Thanks, Ahmed.

Joe Smith: As I have mentioned previously, this issue (the fact that task zap command does not actually zap tasks) occurs very rarely, and should not be confused with other scheduler-related issues. Also, please note the fact that there is a solution for this issue, which I posted in this comment.
Hope: Thank you for the update. I hope other users try to utilize the solution first prior to reinstalling the whole product.

Ahmad, how can I check which build my current Acronis Scheduler is?
Thanks.
- Log in to post comments

Yair: You can check by doing the following:
- Navigate to the directory:
Windows 32-bit: \Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2
Windows 64-bit: \Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2
- Right-click on schedul2.exe file and select Properties
- Go to the Version (Windows XP) or Details (Windows Vista/7) tab
- Next to the File version you will see something similar to 1.0.0.404, where last three numbers represent the build.

Ahmad, thanks. It turns out I have version 403.
Can I just update the scheduler without zapping the current tasks (since I currently have no problems)?

Yair: Yes, you can just update the Scheduler to prevent the issue from happening in the future. The second step (zapping tasks) needs to be carried out only if you already got ghost tasks.
