Error trying to restore efi partition

Thread needs solution

I'm running Windows 7 in EFI non secure boot mode. When I use my usb drive to restore the Windows partition and the EFI partition Acronis restores the partition that windows is on ok but gives me an error message on completion of restoring the efi partition. The message reads " The instruction at 0x00007FF7C5842190 referenced memory at 0x0000000000000008. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program." When I do a restore from the desktop I do not get an error but I cannot tell if the EFI partition is being restored. My usb drive is configured using the create rescue media from Acronis 2016 and the image was created using 2016 (not 2012 or some other version). I'm not sure what build I have, I can't find the build # but I downloaded it on 2/14/16. Anyone have any thought on this?

Thanks

Mark

Well it seems that the reason for the error is operator error. I just did a restore where I answered the restore questions correctly and everything went ok.

Glad to hear it!  What was the option you were missing that originally caused the error?  Might be good to post here in case others run into the same issue skipping through the menus.

Its been awhile since I tried a restore and got the error but I'm pretty sure that I was trying to put the saved efi partition back on the windows partition instead of the efi partition. When I slowed down and read carfully what was being ask and then made the correct selections I had no problems.
