Restoring Full Disk - red X on destination.
Hi All,
I am using the True Image Rescue Media to restore a previous full .TIB backup from network storage to my laptop.
Laptop is a 500Gb SSD.
I go through the recover full disk wizard and when I get the end and review the actions to be performed I noticed that the listed partitions have a red X on then in the top left corner.
After completing the full disk restore the device will not boot. I'm assuming it has something to do with that red X.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Chris,
A picture of the screen with the red Xs would also be helpful. I realize you can't take a screen capture when booted from rescue media, but you could take a picture with your cell phone and post that.

Thanks for the quick replies and sorry for the slim details.
Here are the specs of the machine I am attempting to recover:
ASUS NV56M - 500Gb SSD, 8Gb RAM, i5 CPU.

I did not take a screen shot with my phone yet, but I was searching the forums and the picture above is VERY similar to what I see. The only difference is the list of partitions. The picture above shows a 2Tb drive with 1 partition and the red X. My situation is a 500Gb SSD with 4 partitions and a red X on all of them.
I will try to take a cellphone picture and upload it later today.
Thanks.

Have you run a validation on the backup file? What thread did you pull the link from? Even though the screenshot looks similiar it might be an apples to oranges comparison.
You say the destination drive in question here has 4 partitions, can you post a Windows Disk Management screenshot of the disk? This would be helpful as well.

Here's a picture of my disk.
Enchantech...I believe the green bar indicates data on the disk. My guess would be the backup was made sector by sector. Don't know because I have never done a sector by sector backup.
Chris...will await the picture of your disk.

Yes, the green bar does indicate data on the disk. My suspicion is that the image the OP is trying to recover was created from a different size disk and TI Recovery Media does not know which partition on the new disk to recover to.
The questions are:
Is the computer where the backup is being restored to booted Legacy MBR or UEFI?
Was the image being recovered created from the same computer that it is being restored to? I think so but this is not clear.
What is the format of the destination disk? GPT or MBR? Basic disk or Dynamic?
If the OP can supply that information then a proper solution can be offered it not then any recommendation is purely a guess.
Since this is a recovery issue the OP might be well advised to contact Acronis Support for help as you know recovery issues do not have the 30 day support restriction in place.

Unfortunately, i do not recall the backup attributes that were used during the backup process so I am not certain if it was doing a sector-by-sector backup.

1. UEFI
2. Yes, it is the same laptop and same SSD. partitions are the same.
3. I believe its GPT (I will double check this evening), Basic.
I will attempt the restore again this evening and take screenshots with my phone.
Thanks again.

Please download the product documentation at the link below and review Section 5.1.1.3, see if this will help you in resolving your issue.

Thanks again for the help.
I tried the restore again and was able to take some photos:

Chris,
I now believe that the red Xs indicate that ATI believes the partition placement is incorrect. The link below is a thread started by Mustang on restoring UEFI/GPT, which may help.
https://forum.acronis.com/forum/101550
In the restore, are you selecting the partition placements, or is this an Auto Restore?
If nothing else works, you may have to perform a clean windows install, then restore the C: partition and the data partition.

I think your problem is with the booting of the recovery media. It appears you have a UEFI/GPT system. When you boot the recovery media select the UEFI option. This should solve the problem.

I concur, boot the recovery media correctlyand that should fix the issue.

Figured it out. First, thank you all very much for you assistance and quick response to my issue!
The problem was my own fault. I wasn't paying close enough attention when reviewing the partitions to be recovered. ATI Recovery selected two different partitions as Active. Once I correct this issue and selected the right partition as Active the restore worked perfectly. Doh!
Thanks Again!!!

That red circle with an X symbol means the partition has errors. My experience is that the errors have to be cleared before you can get a good copy.
