Win 7 conflict with watch-state

Thread needs solution

Acronis seems to access CPU continuously, despite the fact that it is programmed to backup only once a week!

In my oppinion, this continuous access hinders the sleeping mode.

True ?!?

It shouldn't, but I suppose it could.  There are default services you may not need that can be turned off in Windows Computer Management >>> services

56697: Acronis True Image 2016: Services and Processes

Additionally, you don't have to allow Acronis to start with Windows, but if it is not started, your scheduled tasks are not likely to run - especially if the Acronis sheduiling service has been turned off.  You may have other issues with sleep mode though (I recently had one where I did everything under the sun in Windows, but the system would immediately wake up after shutdown or sleep - turns out my power button was slightly stuck and I never use it so didn't even check.  I finallypowered off with it and then it went away).  In most cases though, it is more likely to be an ethernet adapter with Wake on Lan enabled, a wireless mouse or keyboard that fluctuates with USB power saving or something along those lines.

Check out this forum for more suggestions if you want to turn off any services and or script them.

Alternatively, you can use msconfig (Windows 7/8/8.10) and diisable startup applications and/or services (Acronis has a few).  In Windows 10, the same settings are in task manager (ctrl+alt+del) >>> startup tab and or services tab.

Hello Alexandre and Bobbo,

There is a known issue with Acronis process called TrueImageMonitor.exe which in rare cases constantly writes logs to folder C:\ProgramData\Acronis and consumes CPU for no visible reason. As pointed out by Bobbo, that indeed could prevent computer from going into sleep mode. Perhaps that is what is happening in Alexandre`s case. This particular issue is expected to be addressed in the upcoming update for Acronis True Image 2016.

As a temporal workaround you can prevent TrueImageMonitor.exe from starting automatically in msconfig or task manager, as Bobbo suggested.

Slava
