Save the Disk Catalog on the DISK ? Like Windows Server Backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I do not understand why it is not possible to create backup scheme like the built-in windows server backup tool.

I would like to know if it is possible to save the catalog on the actual disk.

Why? I want to use a simple 3 USB disk rotation,

When something happens, I want to be able to restore WITH only one DISK.

Hence, I need to have a Full + Incremental on each disk.

My experience with windows server backup tool, the tool will perform a full back:

  1. Every 2 weeks
  2. If the last incremental failed,

I was just adding 3 disk`s to the pool, everything else is done automatically.

With Acronis I know it is to define to perform a full after x incremental. However the problem lies with the fact that each disk does not act as it`s own autonomy

I figured that the problem with acronis, that the Catalog is being saved on the Machine, therefore when the next backup is preformed, it checks the changes with the catalog on the machine, instead to check with the last backup on the actual connected disk.

Let’s say DISK1 is used for first the first week: first backup(DAY1) will be FULL followed by incremental the days after(in the end of every day – there is a backup, full or incremental).

At week 2, I am changing the disk for DISK2, I am expecting that Acronis will now DO a FULL automatically, instead of it, it does incremental.

Means if I want to restore the last word, I will need to have disk 1 + disk 2.

I care only about DISK, I want that every disk will act as it self-autonomy.

Is it possible to do so ?

Hello Yair,

try to set drive option to Fixed drive mode (looks like it currently in Removable mode) in the Where to Back up section (create/edit backup plan). In this case full backup will be created on the newly insered disk.
