re no screen saver or screen options when backing up
not such a problem when backing up on a PC, I can turn the monitor off, but need option during laptop backup and recovery for a screen saver or blank screen, tea tivated by pressing any key or mouse button or movement.......my laptop screen is in danger of being damaged, staying on of r2 hours plus

Hi
thanks, will try this and hopefully it should work, especially if hot keys are recognised when true image is working...Why oh Why an option can't be included withinn the program, there is compression encryption etc etc......but just turning off the screen would save laptop power and protect the screen, maybe it will be in the next version...

Steve, all modern LCD or LED screen panels are not subject to burnt in display characters as the older generation CRT monitors and TV's were, this is why many modern Operating Systems don't even include screen savers anymore.
The simplest method of 'saving' the display is to reduce brightness to a minimum when leaving a long running activity going, and as Bobbo advised, setting the Power settings to automatically turn off the display after a set period.

Thanks, didn't realise that burn in no longer an issue, must explain why so many businesses and schools leave their monitors on all night ( very green )
I will check, but I think acronis ignores the display settings when running.....will try out tomorrow and see....would save lPtip battery, although I guess mains is better when doing backups and restore.....would be handy to be able to access the screen settings maybe when acronis running in case changing the values had been forgotten

Steve there are some Acronis settings that prevent a computer from going to sleep when a backup is taking place, but I have not seen it stopping the display from turning off or allowing a screen saver to work. This happens on my laptop regardless of what Acronis may be doing - I first get the screen saver then the display goes blank, or it just goes blank if there is no screen saver set.

Just went into display settings in my windows 10 and checked it turned off display after 2 minutes, been left unattended for half an hour and still the display is on....
I had thought true image either ignores this setting, or its activity counts as user intervention, disabling the screen going off....
Any ideas please ??
also as a side issue, when backing up my laptop HDD I kept getting errors, couldn't read my HDD....so I did a live Windows 10 upgrade, which just replaces all the windows files and now it's backing up ok

Try disabling the option in your backup schedule under advanced settings (Prevent the computer from going to sleep / hibernate). I'm not sure if this impacts the ability for the screen to turn off as well. If removing this helps with the screen, you'll probably need to extend the sleep time for the PC out longer though.
Alternatively, see if you running the recommended batch script in this arcticle might be an acceptable work-a-round for your solution if the above does not produce the desired results.

tried the script, but a window pops up requiring me to click yes, even with a hot key and minimise option set......need something to add to the script which stops this window or makes it invisible
thanks

Just had a thought ....I run true image from a boot disk to do my backups and recovery, as such it most likely does not load or use the power / display settings in Windows.....if it's run from an installed version, then maybe it does....
this is could be the reason.....So if this is true, I request that acronis add there own screen off, dim whatever option to their program
thanks

I suppose adding "exit' to the end doesn't help either?
If not, what if you convert the bat to exe (http://download.cnet.com/Bat-To-Exe-Converter-Portable/3000-2069_4-1055…) and then call the exe with /passive or /slient switches from yet, another batch file to automate the process with Acronis pre command?

sounds interesting, but bit beyond me, can do the conversion, but the next step with switches is unknown to me

Well, didn't realize this was strictly from the boot media - you're correct Windows power settings have no effect here. Please submit feedback through your onliine account - if enough people ask for it, I'm sure we'll see it at some point.
As for the switches, most .exe's have a handful of generic switches that can be appended when running the .exe from command prompt. You can test in Windows by running an application from command prompt and adding /? or /help (I forget which one) after applicationname.exe and it will tell you a bit more about the default switches avaialble. It is convenient to keep the application hidden (no prompts) for some installations, especially if installing remotely through automated tools like PSEXEC, SMS or SCCM.

Steve, thank you for the feedback. Seems like it the the first time I hear about such a request, but definitely something to think about for the future releases. Thank you!

I was also looking for a screensaver, and sadly found out that this feature is not available. Please implement this, it will be very useful!

Booting from the acronis cd disables the Windows screensaver...
really surprised that acronis doesn't have a screensaver or option to turn the monitor off in the options settings....even if it doesn't burn the screen, will save battery life on a laptop.
thanks
PS As a side note, I find acronis true image 2016 much better than 2015.....there is something odd with 2015 with choosing the system partition.....seems to be confusing, whereas 2016 implements this better

Hi Steve,
It's not actually disabling the feature, it's just not there. The default bootable environment is completely Linux and offers no screen saver. I've also created WinPE (not just in/with Acronis though) and none of the Microsoft WinPE I've ever made offers screen saver options either. Might be worth submitting a feature request through the application feedback as it could be useful for long backup or deployment. I don't think I've seen screensaver options in other backup products or other specific bootable media either (for instance - Windows installers, Partition managers, etc).
I think the GUI is coming around too. We're hoping to see a bunch of new improvements in 2017 as well (lots of feedback submitted through the MVP group to Acronis). Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what Acronis will choose to implement, but have my fingers crossed and am looking forward to seeing what 2017 brings when it's released later this year.

Steve,
You feature request is added to the list of tasks for our engineering team. It is not a high priority, but now we have it in the backlog and this will be implemented eventually.
Thank you for the idea!
