ACRONIS 2016 boot media NOT WORKING with new MAC OS V10.11.4
Hi,
I have updated recently my MAC OS (MacBOOK PRO) from v10.11.3 to v10.11.4.
(I use ATI 2016 for MAC Build #6038, and Acronis Boot media was working well with v10.11.3)
After updated MAC OS to v10.11.4 I have build a new USB ATI2016 boot media to replace the previous one.
BUT, now the new boot media is no longer selectable under the boot media menu.
So, emergency RESTORE is NO LONGER possible !!
This is the same situation when ATI2015 did not supported El Capitan !
(I have to bought ATI2016 only 7 months after boughting ATI2015 ...)
I am exasperate to see that each time MAC OS is updated ATI product is NOT validate !
Regards

Hi Jens,
I have reported the problem to Acronis Support.
At the moment, no ticket, no reply..
You observe that you can backup from MAC to a local media, but this image is usefullness because the Restore function from a boot stick can't be done.
The boot stick seems ignored by ACRONIS boot media software.
This is a SEVERE very basic bug..

Hi,
you have completly right, but it seems we are alone in the dark. No one from acronis takes care!
I contacted support too. I had a chat and a email conversation.
They don't believe me. It seems, that they have no mac to reproduce that. Hopefully they have at least one mac for development.
I see, that mac user count not much for them.
I asked them for a free key for the next version, because i guess, it will be fixed for the next osx upgrade after many month.
I hope that paragon will be ready soon with their next disk and backup manager for mac.
The Acronis money will then be learning money.

Hi,
unfortunatly not.
They still request a lot of work for me to show the problem.
I think it is not client work. I will not do that!
I work with unix systems since 1991(HPUX) and they dont believe that i can't start a terminal and execute a command.
I hope we will get a fix soon.

Jens Timmer, Andre1978, 100PIER,
The issue you report about is very important and I understand your disappointment with the late answer, but let me try to help you.
Since this issue is not standard for Mac users, we need to understand what is the root of the problem in each concrete case, so could you please
1) open your terminal on Mac and execute "diskutil list" command
2) copy the output and send it right to me at anastasia.blazhenova@acronis.com
I contact you right after and provide you with steps, that should help in your case. It would be great, if you could send me the output as soon as possible – in case something should be changed in the product we will include it in our update coming next week.
Regards,
Anastasia
P.S. Just in case, here is example of disk util output

Hi all,
i solved the issue on my system. After i make a new Acronis boot device with a new external 2,5" USB disk (no flash drive) and start the Mac Mini from this new boot device the recovery process starts.
Good luck

@Anastasia,
Thanks for the new Build (6057).
The boot media made with Build 6057 now works fine on my MAC Book PRO v10.11.4.
Restore function can be done !
Nota:
Building an USB 2.0 boot media requires more than 30 minutes, building an USB 3.0 boot media requires less than 3 minutes.

I have this problem. I have created the boot media directly from the latest version of Acronis Mac 2016 and when I get to the menu I select Restore from Acronis Backup and click continue and absolutely nothing happens. Completely useless product if you can't restore don't you think? Really need help with this. Dead in the water with my mac. Thanks.

@Fuzzyreets,
For sure the build 6038 does not work and you get the symptom you describe.
Please, can you tell me what you name 'the latest version Acronis Mac 2016' ?
Technical support provided me a specific link to get the build 6057.
This new build is not yet officially released.
Using This new build 6057 to made a boot media you get a boot media properly working.

Hi 100PIER,
The version I have installed came directly from my account which I instlaled yesterday. Shows as build 2.0.6038. How do I get 6057? Why does Acronis release a backup product that cannot restore? Mind blowing how some of this stuff goes with these software vendors.

Fuzzyreets, I believe we will see the official release out this week - not sure though, but have a feeling. In the meantime, I would think they could get you a non-official copy of the boot media like they did for 100PIER - send a private message to Anastasia Blazhenova and hopefully she can help you too.
Unfortunately, every time Apple updates the OS on their end, depending on what they do, it can break software that was previously working. 10.11.4 was rushed out quickly by Apple to fix a zero-day vulnerability in OS X and iOS. Prior to that, build 6038 was still working with 11.3 and earlier. Unfortunately the good old days of the Apple "it just works" reference hardly applies these days. I use a mix of Apple and PC products, but I am slowly growing tired of Apple's high priced hardware, relatively lackluster ingenuity (what, still no touch screen on laptops, can't add our own memory or hard drives anymore- really?) and they still seem to think they know what we want, when clearly that's not true in many generalized ways. Anyways, just wanted to point out that Acronis is workign to fix what 10.11.4 broke and it should be out any day now if the April update is still on schedule as other support technicians and engineers have referenced in various forum threads.

We just released the updated version, which should solve the boot media issue, – so you are welome to install it. Actually you should have gotten the in-prooduct notification about it, otherwise you can find the download link at http://www.acronis.com/en-us/ -> My account -> "My products and downloads”.

Oh this is great news. I will try this tonight. Thank you all for your help with this and 100PIER for even going the extra mile. Much appreciated. I'll be back if it doesn't work :)

Hi,
For me the new official Acronis 2016 for MAC (build 6077) works fine with MAC OS v10.11.4.
I observe to build a USB 3.0 boot media takes less than 2 minutes, a contrario to build a USB 2.0 boot media takes about 30 minutes.
I ignore why this large difference.
(MacBook Pro 2015 , i7 , 16 GB RAM).

100PIER,
USB 2.0 is vastly slower than USB 3.0 in theoretical bandwidth.
Not only will the connection make a difference on the system (USB 2.0 vs 3.0), but so will the type of USB drive being used. Using a 2.0 drive in a USB 3.0 port will still only run at 2.0 speeds and the same goes for using a USB 3.0 drive in a USB 2.0 port.
Even USB 3.0 drives will vary in performance. have USB 3.0 drives that runs at seemingly 2.0 speeds when connected to a USB 3.0 port and when there are many small files (4K transfer speed) at play. My fastest USB 3.0 drive claims 120Mbs Read / 90Mbs Write. With large files (DVD .vob files at 4.7Gb)- it's pretty close to the features specs. However, when transfering many small files to it (portable app directories copied over from my main SSD) it is slower than my other 2.0 drives.
Glad that the latest version is working for you now!
