Creating a Backup that will grow to new HD size

Thread needs solution

Hello,

First time poster, long time fan and user of Acronis products.

I'm trying to creat an imgae using the True Image 2010 Backup and Recovery CD to create a .tib file. I'm creating it for a 25GB partition on a 200gig hard drive. I'd like to create this .tib file so that when I install it on a new machine it will grow to whatever size the new HD may be.

For instance, if I take this newly created image of my 25GB partition, I'd like to put apply it to a 200GB hard drive and want my C drive to be 200GB instead of 25GB.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Just make your backup normally. When restoring choose the partition rather than the complete disk first. You will have an option to expand the partition to match the size of your new HD. See Grover's guide http://forum.acronis.com/sites/default/files/forum/2009/08/3426/gh_acro…. Its for older versions but the concepts are the same.
