Thread needs solution

Hi All, I have had True Image for many years...but to be totally honest, I never used it...I recently upgraded to 2016.

My hardware setup.

2TB Internal HDD(Data Drive)

1TB OneDrive Account(Cloud Storage)

5TB Seagate Central(NAS) with a 4TB USB 3 HDD Attached directly to NAS(Not seen by PC)

My Music, Photos, Videos, Documents and a few other folders are all on my 2TB Internal Drive.

I want to get everything backed up to the NAS and again backed up from the NAS to the 4TB USB 3 HDD attached to the NAS for redundancy

I would also like to be able to access photo's, music, documents from One Drive externally or my NAS externally. Not sure which is better to connect to externally either one drive or seagate central.

I want to try and create the best backup solution and best way to access all my data internally and externally...

Can anyone give any advice on how to best do this efficiently please?

Thanks in Advance

John

Hello John, whilst ATIH 2016 can help with backing up your 2TB internal drive and all its contents to your Seagate NAS drive, it cannot help you with your other requirements with regards to accessing your data externally (over the internet) - that is more likely to be provided by either using the options available within OneDrive, or by your Seagate Central NAS solution.

The other important point to note with regards to Acronis backup images is that these are stored in the .TIB file format, which is a compressed file only accessible by using Acronis software, including the use of Shell extensions allowing browsing of archive files in Windows Explorer.

If you want to access your photo's, music and documents externally, then these will need to be in their original uncompressed format and file types - they cannot be accessed externally within an Acronis .TIB archive image file.

For guidance on backup solutions using ATIH 2016, please take a look at the Best Practices Forum and in particular, look at Grovers True Image Guides which you can see a link to in the left side column of the forum.  There are lots of excellent guides to the different backup schemes available with ATIH 2016 in those pages.
