Keyboard and Mouse not working

Thread needs solution

Hello,

After booting Acronis True Image 2016 and selecting Acronis boot, I lost keyboard and mice. Tryed different PCs and bootable disks, same affect.

Looks like drivers disconnected, it worked though in boot stage.

please, advise,

Thank you,

Chris

Hello Chris, did you create the bootable media on your own computer or is this the media (ISO file) downloaded from your Acronis Account?

Is there anything different about the way in which the keyboard and mouse are connected to your systems?

One option here is to create the Windows PE Rescue media on your computer which will then boot a mini version of Windows with all the normal keyboard and mouse device support that can be expected in the relevant version of Windows that the PE media is based on.

This usually happens when booting to the 64-bit version - I usually experience this on systems with touch screens as well (but not always just those).

Try booting to the 32-bit version instead - both the 32-bit and 64-bit versoin of the Acronis bootable media will work on a 64-bit capable machine and there is no negative for using 32-bit vs 64-bit either - it makes no difference in either backup or recovery..

Hello Chris,

In addition to what Steve and Bobbo said, I can add that drivers got disconnected just because underlying operating system changed. Colorful boot menu that you see in Legacy BIOS mode is based on DOS, black and white text-based menu that you see in UEFI mode is a native EFI application, and the actual Acronis True Image 2016 window is running on Linux. DOS, EFI application and Linux are completely different environments. In your case there must be a compatibility issue with underlying Linux (32 or 64-bit) and your mouse and keyboard.

By default WinPE media builder in Acronis True Image 2016 offers Windows 10 ADK on Windows 7, 8 and 10. Do not hesitate to install it, it will not interfere with your current OS if it is 7 or 8(8.1). Latest 10 version offers wider hardware support compared to 7 and 8 versions, which is important in your case.

Hope that WinPE-based media or starting 32-bit version Linux will help you and you will be able to use mouse and keyboard in bootable media.

Regards,

Slava
