My Backup splits into three .tib files during backup

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I tried doing an Acronis Backup using bootable media on an XP system.

After concluding the backup and checking the files on my external hard drive, I discovered that it was split into 3 .tib files.

I also tried doing a restore but I discovered that I can only choose one of the three backup files for a restore.

Anybody with solutions?

Thanks

Hello Victor,

I think this is the auto splitting function in action.

In file manager, please right click on the icon of the external hard drive and click on "Properties".

If the "file system" said FAT32, then this condition is by design. You may chose the first file in the group for recovery.

This is normal.  I actually prefer to use smaller sizes anyway as they seem to be more efficient when backing up or recovering across the network.  If a single backup file is used (say 100GB), and the network drops out for a second, it may try to start over from scratch.  However, if the same happens with smaller files and the same happens, it may only try to pickup where the last file was already created.

You should only need to select the first backu file and it will find the rest.  Do not pick the other backup files when validating or recovering - just the first one.
