New Full Backup to external HD taking Days to complete
I decided to do a New Full Backup to an external HD so far it has taken 48hrs and only shows 'Retrieving Information' on top bar is this usual?. I have several Acronis backups but since changing to True Image 2016 they fail to show in my Backup list. I do not backup to Cloud as I cannot afford the annual subscription

Hi Steve many thanks for your comments, I did upgrade from an earlier version . I have checked on external HD and it is showing a whole load of temp files, see attached. Thats the only indication that anything is happening. I think I will follow your advice re clean install.

Hi again many thanks for your help but I am not getting anywhere I have uninstalled and reinstalled and added a few of my existing Backups but if I ask to backup to an existing backup it will do nothing. So I thought ok I'll start a new Backup, that was at 20.04 yesterday, today 12 hours later no backup has been created and it is still not doing anything still collecting information. I have just tried again to schedule a full back up at 08.30 to an external HD but it has failed to start and if I hit the 'Back up now' button nothing happens. I think I have to concede defeat and accept that Acronis is not compatable with my computer and look for a new backup programme which is quite upsetting.

Margaret,
I am beginning to suspcet that Windows VSS (Microsoft Volume Shadow Service) is the culprit for you.
Try turning VSS of a single backup (the one causing problems) and see if Acronis can then proceed. Acronis will use its own SNAPAPI backup service if VSS has been disabled. There are 3 ways you can do this. I'd start with one as a test and then run the problematic backup to see if it finally kicks off or not.

Thank you so much for your help

Good deal! Sometimes a clean applicaiton install is all it takes (although possibly not preferred). PC's can be finicky and there are any number of issues that could cause an install to not go correctly (especially when upgrading). Glad it seems to be sorted out and hope the issue does not return!
