The consequences of clearing an Image and folder backups without using the Acronis Remove Archive wizard.
Inadvertently, I forgot to use the Remove Archive wizard provided in Acronis True Image Home 2009,build 9615, to clear my external HD of the image created of my Windows XP Media Center along with additional backups of selected files and folders. Stupidly, I also manually deleted all the records of the backups I had created as listed by Acronis.
I subsequently proceeded to create firstly a new image of my computer followed by separate backups of my files and folders. I was able to get as far as the congratulations window for completing all required steps and the summary of operations to be completed in the creation of the backups. However, when I clicked on the proceed tab all I could get was the Tasks and Events Log page.
I have repeatedly tried to create an image and also the backups of files and folders but without any success. All I can progress to is the Summary of Operations window but no subsequent progress bar to confirm that the programme is working thereafter.
Please has any other contributor any knowledge of this situation and would he/she be in a position to suggest a solution?
Thank you.
Colin.

Thank you GroverH.
Following your guidance I have just downloaded build 9809 which I did not realise has been available since Nov.,2009. I understand that by installing this latest update then it will remove the earlier version in the process.
I am unsure of where to find and open" Recovery" however.
I can find no reference to my former backups whatsoever so I guess I must have unfortunately made a super job of polishing them off.
Hopefully, the latest update once installed, will allow me to create a new image of the Dell computer C,D and E drives and thereafter a backup of my files and folders whivch include documents, music photos.,etc.
I shall let you know.

My reference to Recovery is when you simulate restoring a backup and browse for the backup file being used for the recovery, this function is using the Recovery module. Once you find a reference or an actual file, by right clicking the reference, you have disposition options.
Some tasks, at creation time, require that the user checkmark the run option in lower left of the summary screen in order for the proceed action to cause a backup to be created.
You can also open TrueImageHome and right click on a specific task and choose the Start option.

Many thanks for your guidance throughout this issue.
Fortunately for me, following my downloading and installing the singular update for the 2009 Version i.e.Build 9809 I was once again able to create an image and thereafter backup of files and folders which I had been prevented from doing whilst using the original build. The new build must have replaced the original completely.
If it is not too much trouble could you please tell me what are the actual steps you have taken to arrive at Recovery as refered to in your second posting above?
All your efforts have been very much appreciated and I thank you once again.
Sincerely,
Colin.

Colin,
My apologies. Version 2009 does not have the features that I referenced. I have 2010 installed and wrongly remembered the 2009 features.
The option would have been found at 2009 Manage & Restore/Browse for specific file but alas, my memory did not suffice.
Since I do not have 2009 installed and do not have deleted archives, I can only refer you to the user manual.
11.6 Removing backup archives
You may want to remove backups and backup archives you no longer need. Because Acronis
True Image Home stores information on the backup archives in a metadata information
database, deleting unneeded archive files using Windows Explorer will not delete information
about these archives from the database and Acronis True Image Home will consider that
they still exist. This will result in errors when the program tries to perform operations on the
backups that no longer exist. So you must only remove obsolete backups and backup
archives using the tool provided by Acronis True Image Home. To remove the entire backup
archive, select it and click Remove on the toolbar or right-click on the full backup of the
backup archive and choose Remove in the shortcut menu. To remove an incremental or a
differential backup, select it and click Remove on the toolbar or right-click on the selected
backup and choose Remove in the shortcut menu. In this case all other successive
incremental and differential backups created later than the selected incremental or
differential backup will be also deleted. The following screen appears:
92 Copyright © Acronis, Inc., 2000-2009
If you click Delete, the program will remove the backup archive from its metadata
information database as well as from the hard disk.

Thanks GroverH.,
Your last mail refers to the procedure which I should have followed;was aware of but blindly ignored to land me in the situation as identified earlier.Thankfully, through your help, all is now well.
Thank you very much and best wishes,
Colin.
